Jamming Sensors

Hey all. Just wondering... are there any rules about jamming AEMS and PEMS sensors?

It should technically be possible... you just focus a tight beam of EM radiation directly on the opponents array. If you can target a laser at several hundred thousand Km, a jamming beam shouldn't be a problem. It might change the dynamics of fleet combat, as well as piracy, etc.

I believe such rules exist for T4 (probably TNE as well). Bruce Allen Macintosh's exhausting 'definitive sensor rules' for T4 probably will explain jamming in painful detail.

Ah, here they are. http://traveller.mu.org/house/sensor.rules.html

Huh. Don't see jamming rules, tho. I thought T4 ship stats had a 'jammer' rating with their sensors! Maybe it's just a task or a -DM?

I don't know if they are rules so much as guidelines, but Grape is preferable to Strawberry, IMO.

:)

Sorry, the only sensor jamming I can find is in the Skills section of T20 (p.97) under the T/Sensors rules.

EDIT: One of these days, I should really find myself a copy of Fire, Fusion, and Steel.

Radar Operator: Sir. The radar, sir. It appears to be ... Jammed!
Dark Helmet: Jammed. ... Raspberry.
Dark Helmet: There's only one man who would dare give me the raspberry.
Dark Helmet: LONE STAR...
:rofl::rofl:

In the group I played with we used navigation or commo skill as the default skill for operating sensors. I also created a sensor skill subbing it for either commo or navigation for a time. The rules I came up with matched TL & operator skill level of the attacker vs. the defender. I also created a homerule Shroud program whose programming was to jam sensors & communication. I posted some of my old ideas on sensor on www.darkhstarr.com/Homerules.html.
