Isle of Wight

!?! (splutters in amazement) I was just thinking "I'd like to get back into gaming, I'd like to run a traveller campaign, surely there won't be anybody on this forum for the Isle of Wight"

I moved here three years ago and haven't RPG'd since, I am desperate to start again.

Have you move here yet?

Matt

i have just come back from visiting my friend in ventnor . i am seriously considering a move down there .
not something to boast about ( or even mention to the missus ) but for me a factor in the desicion has been whether i would find any travellers there .
now i know .
maybe we can travel sometime soon .

<< So, as long as you're here, why don't you tell the rest of us about the Isle of Wight. >>

Well, it's a small (12x24 miles) island just off the south coast of England. Generally, it's a lot quieter than central England where I originate from, with lot's of nice beaches. Generally a nice place to bring kids up. It population almost doubles in the summer with tourists, with Cowes Week and the America's Cup bringing people from all over the world.

I could go on, look at www.iwight.com for more info, maybe we could attract some US travellers. ;)

Well at least one other CoTI member is currently resident on the Isle of White, but they'll be along soon to announce themselves ;)

However, I'd be quite keen to travel down for a game.

I'd move over, since it looks like there are a couple of jobs I could do, but I haven't the finances (yet). If one of those jobs were guaranteed, and I could afford to move, I'd be your Token Loud American (though I'm louder online than in person).

Jame thought you wer moving to florida. ;)

I've been to wight. Cool place. My wife likes the crystal. I prefer the yacht squadron...something for everyone. Portsmouth has a university right? Did you advertise there for players or is that ineffective in the work UK? Anyhow good luck.

Cheers.

Well, maybe I was...

How 'bout this? You guys down in Florida and you guys over on (in?) Wight offer me jobs, and whichever gives a higher paycheck wins!

Careful what you wish for...

Actually I've been interviewing a lot lately. Hope to end up with at least a contract in the next week.
However, getting work in the uk for americans can be a challenge...depending on what you do.

Especially on this small picturesque island. Sure it's lovely but the total lack of any industry is a problem.

Personally I'm trying to get on a PhD/ Research Assistantship at Portsmouth, as all I'm doing at the moment is commanding the island militia.
