I know it is a fantasy trope and that American (and thus the rest of the world) is forcefed this in the name of infotainment, but should really this be propagated by T5:

Page 592:
Killers: Certain carnivores devote much attention to kill-ing, savoring the act itself as much as the search for food. Killers' reason (such as territorial defense) is replaced by a raw killing instinct. Killers generally disregard the defender's size as a factor. A typical Terran killer is the shark.

The only terran example I really can think of is Humans, and shouldn't be in beats section anyway (tho sometimes you wonder).

Killer is something I would attribute to individual and not a species; Trappers and Filters are the best equvivalents, thus rendering this obsolete (and offensive to my eyes and mind;)).

Here's the related passage from the CT '77 text:

"Killers: Certain carnivores devote much attention to killing, often apparently for the act itself, in a kind of blood lust. Killers reason (such as territorial defense) is replaced by a raw killing instinct. Attacks by killers are fierce and violent. Killers will generally disregard the defenders size as a factor. A typical terran killer is the shark."

It's a definition for a type of animal used throughout several versions of Traveller. Is there something here I'm missing?

Many species meet the "killer" definition.

Sharks - who use their mouths to taste-test everything - and most mammals cannot survive the taste-test.

Wolverines - who are notorious for killing more than they need.

Army Ants - if you're in reach of the bivouac, and you're made of meat, you're food.

Humans don't, and claims they do border on religion and politics.
