At the onset, please understand this is not a "T5 is unplayable" or "T5 is not a game" thread. Rather, I'm wondering if the main intention of T5 really is to serve as what the average gamer would think of as a "core rule book" for a gaming system.

Its size and breadth of comprehension suggests the possible alternative that it is more of a philosophical encyclopedia, laying out Marc's system (and the encoded beliefs and preferences) in a gaming format. Almost like a Traveller (though not necessarly OTU) Simarillion.

Well, MM would be the one to answer what his intention was for the BBB. However, I used it for our campaign but also use it as a reference.

What do You want to use it for?

Yes, and no. From what I've gathered, the primary intent of T5 BBB is to be the Advanced GM's book. Mongoose was supposed to be T5 Light; Mongoose felt it wasn't ready to be reduced to a light version, and so wrote a whole new edition.

Robject and Marc are working on a player's book. It will have some but not all the options, and not all the sections. But it will be compatible with 5.09.

So, Core? Yes. But core for general player use? No. Resource Kit for GM's.

[m;]And, given the thread title is a violation of board rules... Thread being closed.[/m;]
