For Use With Mongoose Traveller: Is it ok to post a Campaign that's been fleshed out by AI?

So I found out that I can use ChatGPT to flesh out things I've outlined and wrote down ideas about.

I'm pretty sure I can put together a Classic Traveller Campaign that I've been working on for years this way.

I'm wondering if it would be ok to post it up when I've finished compiling it all. Or will there be too much AI?

I've been using it for a few things along those lines as well (and it turns out I can drop my character art in and ask for that in different locations and stuff, so suddenly I have several mostly consistent character art for stuff for our on-line games). came up with NPCs that fit the game world I described, stuff like that. It is a very useful tool (and scary sometimes as it actually brought in, verbatim, some text in a draft email I was sending to the GM about some questions, and I asked AI to elaborate some rules around my character. So throw out all pretense of privacy when using AI)

For boards like this, I also have no issue with it. But I will note I do not do likes on AI generated stuff here. I'm old fashioned that way I suppose. And /soapbox rant :)

I don't think this is going to work.

I have to give ChatGPT too much information. I thought it was going to generate content for me. But it needs too much information from example adventures that it doesn't have. I'm not sure how it ran Traveller games for me. I think I overestimated the thing.

I'll have to think more about this.

Big issue is the level of ChatGPT you are paying for. Gets ‘smarter’ and more comparative retained data the more you pony up.

I guess the equivalent between having Travgen-0 EDU 4 and Travgen-2 EDU 8.

For my friend literally doing AI training now, you get access to the next level beyond commercially available. He is all over using AI for his TTRPG maps, scenario gen, logos and other background material. But he’s working a popular franchise that likely has a lot of formative hits.

I'm paying monthly for ChatGPT 5. I might have to think about it.

If I have it summarize the two adventures that I want it to use as examples, that 'might' work.

There have been others that did AI scenario gen and referee early on that posted in this forum, and something like 3 years ago- an eternity in dev time. But that was with more wide open experimental versions.

I don’t know how much retention your subscription has, but I’d probably spend some time defining a generic subset of what you want, save it, then refer to it in your specific prompts.

I'm not sure either.

But someone taught it the rules for Federation Commander and I've been working with it to make Solo Scenarios and such. It does get forgetful if I have a very long chat going.

So, I've had an idea.

I'm making this Campaign to work with Classic Traveller, if you have the CT CD or the original books or reprints.

I have the CT CD and 4 of the reprinted compilation books, plus the original The Traveller Book and The Traveller Adventure.

I'm working this up as the Detached Scout counterpoint to The Traveller Adventure. Even using one of the Patron Encounters that says the Character started his research in Regina subsector, but in The Traveller Adventure they meet him in Aramis subsector.

I'm kinda writing it for my own enjoyment - even though I'll probably never run it. It's been circling around in my head for over a decade.

I'm thinking that if I own the CT CD and I want to set up a Campaign using ChatGPT to do it, I should be able to.

The conflict is in ChatGPT using it for other people who might not own the CT CD or other forms of Classic Traveller.

The same would be for posting it on CotI.

I would have to make each section vague enough that it requires the CT CD or other forms of Classic.

And I could say that 'this part of the adventure takes over at that part in the original adventure.' Or some such.

Then I'm requiring the person running the Campaign to own the original to be able to use the Campaign.

Does that sound right?

Also, has anyone heard from MongooseMatt lately?

I sent him a message on Facebook a couple weeks back and didn't hear back from him there either.
