Is it me or has this site died

I mean no sign of hunter, no new products, the last product out was rather unimaginative and no creative spark here. Even I'm at the stage why I wonder why I come here anymore....

This is still the premier gather spot for Traveller devotees on the net. Lots of posts. Lots of activity.

I sure wouldn't say that it's "dead".

And, to be honest, I like this place a heck of a lot more than I do the Mongoose, GURPS, or Avenger forums. (Probably because those forums seem more edition-specific whereas this forum has proportional discussion of all Traveller editions.)

Ah, well, while this board is not exactly a fountain of creativity and has far
more discussions about old than about new Traveller ideas, I would not con-
sider it dead.
Just take a close look, and you can still find a couple of interesting ideas now
and then.

I've been having a ball here, but then, I'm a CT aficionado and I've got my dead-horse-kickin'-boots on to prove it.

It's not dead, but you have to consider it is the middle of summer, at least for those of us north of the equator, and that tends to be vacation time, outdoor time, etc.

I think there has been a decent amount of activity, considering.

It's had its dead moments. It's never really been an incredibly active forum compared to say something like one of the old classic computer gaming gaming forums, but there's discussion going on here.

I've never found it to be full of activity, but there've been times when the boards were hard to keep up with.

I suspect we're just in another lull.

Hoping to stay out of flame troubles....

But, ummm, it's you! :p

Of course like Jawillroy, I too have my 'I love CT and dead-horse-kicking' boots on too. :D

And I am trying to find new stuff and have, the Bilanidin threads rock! I am slowly learning the language of the Zira Sirka...slowllly.

Poke around, use the search function, or *gasp* start some new threads...

Just my thoughts.

(Scrapes the TNE drek from his CT boots...)

Nope. Kicked the corpse pretty hard, but no rigor mortis yet.

Although I must confess, the thread concerning CotI's possible demise prompted me to buy an external hard drive for archival purposes.

Speaking of, what I would like to do is archive all my game stuff and have it interactive, like the Traveller Wiki. Any free/shareware around that would let an average Joe do that?

Hmmm, It all depends on the definition of "interactive". :)

Are you talking about something to list out the contents of your directories in hyperlinks?

You may want to consider starting up a thread is Software Solutions.

There are serious and discomforting issues with this site. I consider it not dead, but in a coma. There is no brain right now, but the autonomic systems are functioning perfectly.

I would suggest that there have been some erratic twitches. Still alive (and expected to recover) but, perhaps, not quite 'functioning perfectly.'

Just my opinion.
Free and worth every penny:)

I think you nailed it. The question is.....does it recover, or persist?

Ya know, I'm gonna take issue with this.

Unless you're talking about a specific rules question, most everything here is "pure traveller".

There's no "new" or "old". We don't have anyone, really, that's pushing out the timeline (though we have 1248).

But that doesn't mean there isn't a crapload (sorry, I don't know the crapload : DTon ratios) stuff to be explored and discussed to handle the previous 1200 years.

Some are era specific (if you're talking about Rebellion effects, Virus effects, galactic politics in the Big Picture), but most of Traveler is about the small story. Or rather, the small story writ large.

If you're hunting down a derelict space craft in a remote system, does it really matter what era you're in? what rule set you use? Hardly.

And while folks at times may be "trapped" by Canon, many are not, and much of what's talked about is "canon free".

I haven't been to the other sites. I was on the TML a bazillion years ago, but I think this is the most interesting Traveler site on the net.

Is the front page a bit "bare"? Yup. Is that irksome? Sure, somewhat.

But the core of the COMMUNITY is here, alive and kicking. And I think it's a pretty rich one.
