Io class cruiser

Ronnke

SOC-11
Terran Confederation, Io class cruiser.

At the moment it only has the one weapon system which is a light spinal particle cannon. The other weapons I still need to add after I work out the ships displacement which I estimate to around 8000 dtons.

I'm not completely happy with a few things on the model, and they might change depending on feedback.

The size could be a problem since using HG the lightest particle spinal is 2.5.ktons, the lightest meson spinal is 1k.

Smallest jump capable ship with a spinal in HG Traveller is ~20kt.

Yeah, I will probably have to scale it up as with the spinal cannon there is also nothing left for other weapon systems. I do want the ship to have a spinal cannon, that's an important design element.

You can shoe horn spinal mounts into smaller hulls, they just suck at most things
There was a guy once who used a machine learning system to optimise TCS squadrons and he basically ended up with a bunch of spinal mounts with no agility. IIRC his fleet packed something like 80 spinal mounts and he won two tournaments on the trot before the organisers asked him not to enter.

Under HG rules, one could think in terms of ~19,000 ton cruisers with 1-2G manoeuvre drive as being plausible captial ships at certain tech levels.
