Internet Games in real-time?

I'm pretty flexible in regards to character. I prefer playing a character that is not the overall leader. It will be fine as long as my character has some skills necessary for the type of adventures that will be run.

Roleplaying is roleplaying, right? I'm familiar with CT LLB 1-3 and MGT and don't know a thing about T5. Is it 2d6 or d20 or something else? Are the skills broad or very specific? How easy would it be to transfer a MGT character?

So far my impression of Gadrin is that there won't be any real issues; seems reasonable and capable enough. Haven't heard much from WarWizard, not sure if they're still interested.

I don't mind leading a bit but will try not to be boorish about it. Might work out that we need to switch off as each of us ventures into the other person's areas of expertise. So far Scouts and Merchants seem suggested. I'll do the latter, and we'll need ship skills.

Looking forward to gaming with you!

Roleplaying is worth more than numbers or printouts.

Send me your PC, my GURPS Traveller book has a "conversion" section for the various types of CT and MT. I don't have Mongoose or T5, so hopefully your
PC will be self-explanatory.

I doesn't really matter though, we can always "rewind" if something gets over-looked or discombobbled.

I can provide an NPC "leader" either as a direct party member or behind
the scenes (go here, do that, sort of thing).

Allesandro Domici's motivations are pretty simple. He's a merchant from a large and occasionaly wealthy family. There are only about 420 family members between him and the top, so he's accepted his role in increasing the family name and prestige even if he doesn't direct it. :)

Over the course of his career he's been in the merchant service, generally on small fringe bound ships doing whatever needed being done. Amicable, helpful, and mildly charismatic, he gets along well with almost everyone.

Note to the D...err...Referee.

Allesandro's motivation is to serve the family and thus much of his life has been directed in whatever the family needs. Feel free to send him off with some communication from one uncle or another. When not directly on family business he's busy trying his hand and spending his own monies in speculation. Not greedy, Allesandro sees money as his contribution to the family.

For the most part Allesandro comes across as fairly normal, except for a general sense of happiness and well-being. He's an optomist at heart.

Okay, nice intro, I'll have to read the email you sent me later.

For Reavers Deep (which has a large Solomani Influence) I use...
http://librarydata.jtas.net/

So Allesandro would be interested in this
http://librarydata.jtas.net/LibraryData/A/Aquapur.htm

which is something almost all merchants in the area would deal with
when they can.

Saturday was just a starting point. Tuesday & Wednesday eve's sounds good too.
I already have lunch plans down state on Saturday. Fiancee will probably want to stop and do some shopping on the way back so don't know what time I'd be able to join in.

I'm trying Book 6 Scouts (one of the additional books I do have for CT) instead of MGT. The first character died in the 4th year of the 3rd term. Trying again.

EDIT: Second character also died. 4th year of the 2nd term. May have to use the optional survival rule.

EDIT #2: ok, 4th guy finally made it 3 terms and turned out quite interesting.

Yikes! Remind me not to stand too close to you; the accidents might be uncontained.

Sunday good for you then? 3-6ish? In truth Saturday wasn't great for me but an option.

Eddy Dunz went into the scouts straight out of college. Very well educated, Eddy excelled, skyrocketing through the scout ranks in just 12 years. There is speculation because of Eddy's rather mundane career assignments, that he made it to the top by taking out his competition in duels. (Five promotion skill rolls were gun combat!) He typically caries a pair of pistols, one holstered under each arm.

Never making officer, the overzealous Eddy is looking for new challenges and perhaps more adventure than a paper pushing scout supervisor would see. He is relying on his outstanding navigation skills to guide him to wherever the future leads.

Our house rule was: if your character died and you liked him, you just took him at that point in the rollup.

Muster him out if you don't want him to remain in the service.

Will somebody run a poll on this BBS for:

Code:
An Online Game with preferences for Day (with options for Monday - Sunday).
Then we can have everyone post their prefered times for the days they chose.

It might lead to more than one game for those interested.

Keep it in this forum. Ask for those to only vote if they plan on participating

What's the date and time for this? Sun 3-6p? Is that GMT/CST...

Sunday, 15 Mar 09

Noon Pacific
3 PM Eastern

So far it looks like Google Chat. Main question is a group conversation that is OS agnostic for those of us on Linux. :)

Actual play looks likely for Tuesdays or Wednesdays evenings. Time undecided.

Of the active posters, only Kilgs is a Moot member. I don't see te ability to run a poll proper, though we can post a thread and collate as we go.

I would also point out that my enthusiasm is growing if the likes of CosmicGamer and Kilgs are involved!

Allesandro came out fairly well. Nothing remarkable except his intellect. Still trying to figure out the Merchant skill.

We're on for noon Pacific/3PM Eastern? Does Google chat allow multiple chatters?

Yes, I believe once we're on we can invite others to the chat.

Only one person sent me an email, so that's the only other GMail account
I know of right now.

While some may consider this thread necromancy, I prefer to celebrate. I'm still playing Allesandro and Cosmic Gamer is still playing Eddy after a year of real life!

Can't say that we've done as much as I would have liked in the time span, but it's been fun. Well, Eddy "accidently" shooting Allesandro wasn't as fun, but everyone survived. ;)

Yeah, well...Cav was a good sort of character. Eddy has done some good navigating and except for the occasional lapse, good shooting. Allesandro has finally made about Cr 13,500, after a year or so of real-time. Not sure that bodes well for his goals.

If you're looking for some fun, Cosmic Gamer is running a PbP. I'd have to admit to having a good time in it so far, he lets me have some leeway with the character and that's one of the things I really enjoy. Of course, I haven't read this morning's posts, so someone may have shot me already. :)
