Implanted microchip reminds you to take your pills via text message

So why not just have a watch that can receive the signal instead of having something stuck in your arm? The watch beeps - problem solved. You wouldn't think they'd advocate something that intrusive if they didn't have to.

people leave watches behind, an implanted chip sticks with you all the time. And these are extremely small, however, may cause some side issues if you read up on this sort of thing - there are entire companies already working/testing implanted RFID chips and things.

Quote: "So how’s it work? There’s a tiny microchip in each pill swallowed, which relays a signal to an implanted chip in the patient’s shoulder, that in turn sends a text message to the patient to take his or her medication."

just add the GPS & you can track them as well!

Biggest problem now is:

I forgot to take my mobile with me when I left the car.

So my MOBILE knows that I should take a pill. Great!

Yes, it's probably for elderly patients who've got all sorts of
stuff on their mind.

My mom's handicapped and her medicine schedule (which has
slackened considerably) is still fairly complex. The average
person wouldn't find it too daunting, but you intermix it with
a day that gots lots of interruptions, etc, etc and suddenly
it's "I forgot to give her the injection yesterday" or an hour
ago.

My latop has Scheduled Tasks to play alerts for certain times
of the day to make sure.

well considering I don't own a mobile phone or any kind of texting device...

but yea it seems kida intrusive for the value added

Just cut out all the half-steps and connect the implanted device to the cortex, then your doctor's computer can MAKE you take the pills.

Isn't that much more worry-free?

Medicated citizens are happy citizens.
