I live on a desert planet(Arizona)

SOC-5
Looking for other people in AZ to play Trav with or share resources. In Tucson, will travel.

Travwise Ive been playing since 1979 and have mostly used CT. Now that Mongoose has released their version, I'm happily back to wondering how to fold my other SF RPGs into MNTU.

I'll be in Sierra Vista from January through March. Might not be available every weekend, but we might be able to work something out. Drop me a line closer to the date and we'll see what we can do.

Tucson

I also live in Tucson weekends are mostly free. been playing traveller since the 70's and other games am familiar with classic traveller and forwent mongoose to wait on T-5 ... (have the cd for mega traveller..rest of my books were lost during hurricane Hugo in Charleston SC sept of 89..)

wow! responses!

The xboat network is up and running in this area! shiny!

Sierra Vista from time to time isn't a prob, and I have a regular gaming space (okay, Its a 10x20 shed with lighting, fans and loads of geekery) here on the West Side.

I haven't run Trav in this form in quiteawhile, but I'm typically rules-light/story-first when I GM. Y'all?

I used to live in Arizona, and often wish I were still there... but I lived in Phoenix, so the commute to Tucson's a bit harsh.

Phoenix has a good gamestore and once had a 'con or two, but I find little else to reccomend it.

That said, I grew up in SoCal so Phoenix is to me like all the smog, congestion, sprawl and bad planning without a coast. :)

I've been back a few times, and I must agree that it's certainly grown into a big mess. Now, back in the 70s it was a nice place :)

Most desert towns are better 'way back when'. In some ways, Tucson seems to be on that cusp of 'cool town trying to resist turning into VanillaVille, USA'.

The above should not be taken to mean I don't like vanilla. Far from it. Still my fave. :)

can you 'splain what your travcode in your sig means? if its a seekrit, I can take it to a PM...

Rules light story first

Rules light and story first was the only way i know ..havent gm'ed traveller in a decade would have to bone up a bit to do that would rather play ...

Sierra Vista and Tucson. Man. Where were you guys when I was exiled down there for three stinkin' years. I got so desperate back then I was forced to game with the high school students I was teaching.

Too bad I left the area. Now I"m up in Sacramento with the exact same problem: no one plays Traveller.

:/ I know that drill. Sorry, mate.

just gonna hafta recruit some folk. Seems like Sac being such a big city you'd find SOMEONE who knew of the game....try your own stab at the Recruiting Orifice?

Sure. I've just revised them, so they're fresh.

If you want the entire shebang, it's here: http://eaglestone.pocketempires.com/imtu.html

IMTU tc+ t5++ 3i(+) au ls+

"IMTU" describe the general preferences for my Traveller games.

tc+ means I like Classic Traveller.
t5++ means I'm totally into what Traveller 5 is doing.
3i(+) means I'm in line with what the canonical 3rd Imperium is like, and I may tend to make it a little strongarmed at times.
au refers to starship automation, which is experimental IMTU.
ls+ means life support is expensive and difficult to work on, hence the canonical weekly service fee for l-s at a starport is meaningful.

OTU is the "holy war" variant of the IMTU code in beta, which focuses entirely on issues which seem to have deep implications in the Official Traveller Universe (OTU) and have a history of strong opinions and sometimes heated discussions.

OTU 44% an+ dt+ ge- j- jf+ n- pi+ pp+ tr+ tv- uwp+ xb+

44% I have a strong opinion on 44% of the Holy War issues. I think that makes me Opinionated.

an+ The ANNIC NOVA is canonical.
dt+ Droptanks are integral to the OTU.
ge- Playability always trumps realism.
j- Jump drives are powered directly by the power plant.
jf+ All jump fuel is burned before jump.
n- Naval budgets are small.
pi+ Piracy must exist.
pp+ Power plants must be fuel inefficient, as the rules indicate.
tr+ The basic trade systems work fine.
tv- Interstellar taffic volume is low.
uwp+ Mainworld generation works fine.
xb+ I love the XBoat route.
