Huron Class 50,000 dTon Bombardment Cruiser

You bet armor takes volume
Same percentages as HG I think. In the interest of perhaps seeing the deckplans some day Engineer here's your tonnage breakdown for T20:

code:

1,000tons Bridge
14tons computer/7fib
2,500tons Jump 4 Drives
20,000tons fuel x4P
2,500tons Maneuver 2G
6,197tons Power 6,197EP
6,197tons fuel x4W
125tons Purifier
3,000tons Armor F2
20tons Nuke Damper
45tons Meson Screen
2,400tons Meson Bay100 x24
2,400tons Missile Bay100 x24
2,400tons 20 br magazine x24
20tons Beam batt x4 (20 triples)
130tons 50ton Cutter hangers x2
980tons Staterooms x245
72tons Cargo hold
[/QUOTE]Kudos to the designer, they hit the bullseye on this one so far as I can tell. Tonnage wise and EPs, it's bang on so I expect the rest is as well. Good luck with the deckplans, this is a huge ship and a daunting task.

Kudos to the designer, they hit the bullseye on this one so far as I can tell.
Most of the designs in TA7 are like that. Well considered, well designed, good solid examples of ships to fit a variety of roles.

Dan, just great many thanks.
Missed this post first !

The missile magazins really take up 2400 dTon ???
Seems to be quite different from MT...

You're quite welcome.

Yep, I don't recall the MT magazine/battery round numbers off hand, and I don't think T20 did any official numbers for bays either. It seems the designer has taken the (reasonable, but I forget the source) number of 100 missiles per br for a 100ton bay. So for 20 brs that's 2000 missiles, per bay. At 20 missiles per ton that's 100tons per magazine x24 bays for 2400tons.

Now thats the secret.
MT missile occupy just 0,1 m3 whereas T20 missilea seem to use a bit more space.

Ok, so I can do some design work again

Hi !

Center/Missile Deck Update:
HuronCenterDeck.jpg

22 100 dTon missile bays with their adjected magazins, a fairly large Fusion-PP array in the "Power-Hall" and a Nagoshi-TR 4000 Tandem Jumpdrive core.
Grid is 3 m.

Mert

CC2 & CG
CG provided all the symbols for machinery, turrets and stuff.
Anyway, the most complicate part (rough design and multi-level volume distribution) was done with this Excel spreadsheet I talked about in another thread.

So I could concentrate in CC2 just to do the drawing and making some detail arrangement. It speeded up design time quite well.

I finished crew quarters on the CenterDeck and will move on to Deck1 (BridgeDeck) now.

Scarecrow, could I ask You for a orthographic front and side view of your CG model ?

regards,

TE

I've been watching your Excel thread, but I'm afraid I'm spreadsheet-illiterate - it's all just going over my head. I really need to get to grips with Excel one of these days, your idea looks just too useful. How big a deck can you fit on it?

Damn, more software learning ...

You just have to use software, Bromgrev

The sheet itself is just stupid simply. All it does is counting some cells.
The deck design area is 50x30 squares.
As you can choose the actual volume unit of one square freely, any deck could fit on it.

For the Huron layout I had choosen a unit of 100 dTon or 1350 m3 per square. Here a deck of roughly 500m x 300m would fit.
Maybe enough for most Traveller cases ;)

Hi !

Another deck.
Some detail lines are missing here due to shrinking and compression.

Some comments:
The PP section is the upper level of the PP hall.
Crew quarters are 4 of the levels shown, with some variations in the decks. I will care for that later.
The Bridge is a one room thing on three different levels and a briefing room below.

Mert

Yes Sir, General Sir, Yes.
14 times a 100 dTon Meson Gun bay.
And two humble missile bays

This section is 175 m long, 150 m wide and roughly 4 standard decks high.
Well, somehow the size of a modern soccer stadium.

I really like the split-level bridge. Nice three-dimensional thinking, Mert, Traveller needs more of that sort of thing. A 3D interior view of that would look very smart indeed.

Hi !

Now the top section.
Not very exiting, but perhaps necessary to keep the ship working.

1,5 m grid.
Just a few local control stations for Dampers and Meson screens.

Regards,

Mert

P.S.

The BridgeDeck was updated, too.
I have added armor areas and additional parts of the m-drive.
Just for completeness:
the CC2 file file is here

Hi !

The Huron-Class is all-in-all finished now.
Actually I'm caught by a firewall, so I cannot transfer the newest files to my ftp-site.

Anyway, if somebody wants to take a look I can send a mail
