I too will be waiting for T5 so none of the options listsed apply, though it had better have a purchase system for character generation as well as the old templates to give it more versatility. As for 4E and Mongoose Traveller my playing group won't touch the D20 system with a barge pole so these are out, and if T5 proves a dissapointment after playing various incarnations of Traveller since 1978 our group will be looking for something else.

I have ten or eleven versions of Traveller. I will have one more when the next one comes out, and one more, and one more, and one more.

You can have my Traveller when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

I will continue to use T20 rules set. This is the set my players and I understand. It makes things simple for my players because they understand d20. I will not be buying any additional rules set such as mongtrav, 4E, or scifi20. I'm done with buying books or online PDFs that I have to rework to fit into my current gaming system.

10 or 11???

I know there are 7 published for profit:
CT, MT, TNE, T4, GT, T20, H4T

I know of the following significant net conversions:
AD&D
CORPS
FUDGE
World Of Darkness (my work)
The Fantasy Trip Traveller

And a few trivial conversions:
EABA (use MT tasks and EABA stock everything else...)
D6 Space
D6 Star Wars

more than one edition vote, here.

my group will stick with CT/MT most likely. i'll have to be the one to check out RTT/T5 and then sell them on it. i tried that back with T4 but it didn't stick.

no interest in d&d4. i'll probably get the PH out of curiosity. don't play 3.x anymore; we use WFRP for our fantasy RPG (but i'm looking at MRQ stuff. . . ).

I am using CT and proud of it. It was my original exposure to science fiction RPG and I think it is a fine system, and easy modified where it falls short (very few places, in my opinion).

As for D&D 4e, I agree with kafka47 and selunatic2397. :D

Long live CT!

Not to get off track...

Hi,

I hope I'm not getting too off track, but I think I kind of agree with that sentiment. Classic Traveller was the first RPG I ever messed with and although I own MT, TNE, T4, T20, and now GURPS:Traveller, to be honest at times I'm a little overwhelmed by some of the stuff added in to those systems, and kind of prefere some of the simplicity of the original CT system.

I'm a little fed up with the RPG industry in general!

It's bad enough that WotC is making yet ANOTHER Edition of D&D, but it comes on the heels of everyone being mad about White Wolf's "New" World of Darkness and the absolutely HORRID release of R. Talsorian Games' Cyberpunk 3.0 (and the lack of support thereof). This has really caused me to re-think ever purchasing anything new from any RPG companyever again!

I'm having a "wait and see attitude" as far as Mongoose's Version of Traveller, but I'm SERIOUSLY considering revising T20 to my own liking (I am still a fan of the T20 System) using alternative rules for FTL Travel, FTL Communication, Artificial Intelligence, et cetera.

Ditto for conspiracy X 2.0 by Eden Studios. One book, and vaporware follow ons.

I just took 12 hours to re-organize my entire RPG collection, putting most of it on eBay over the next week, keeping all of my Traveller.

But I'll buy T5.

No current link; hosting site went off-line years ago.

(Not that's it's hard... Tramp Freighters gives a trade system, Scouts gives survey rules, and character templates pre-extant work as is... )

Several people have mentioned playing Traveller with D6 SW in the past; I've done so for a couple one-shots. d6 Space is LESS capable; they puled the details right out from under a Merchant campaign...

It is not likely that 4th Ed D&D will affect any of my gaming or be used by me for any purpose.

I will probably check out Mongoose Traveller, unless it uses the T4 dice mechanic.

Previews posted so far say its closer to CT then anything else (at least as far as dice mechanics go).

EDIT: BTW, hello everyone, this is my first post here.
