How Long.....

It's been 2 years since my last Traveller game. I was wondering how long it's been for other folks?

With me, work and family have pretty much put the kiabosh on any gaming that I could do.

Though, I still get the itchin....

and have even started making a campaign. My hopes are to work on this and once some work time-lines are completed I'd setup a session for twice a month.

We'll see how well that works, but at least I'll create the campaign.

too long

1987 was the last time I got to play with other people. Real life actually got more interesting, although my itch also resurfaced a couple of years back, especially when I found this site and all the interesting people and ideas it has. There is at least 1 gaming group here, and I played some other RPGs about 15 years ago (in between interesting parts of real life, I suppose :)) and I may try again when my son is a bit older (my wife is a fire fighter, so has 24 hour shifts at odd intervals, so consistency would be problematical)

since the close of the MoTrav playtest.

But we're playing Dark Heresy, which is close enough to Traveller to be made into a variant TU... After all, it's 40K, which could be arged as a bent TU... ;)

Can't remember when my last FTF game was. I recall somebody playing Peter Gabriel's new hit Sledgehammer during one of the last games, so that should date it for you. By that time the group was terminally depleted as the lads dropped out one by one for the four horsemen of teenage gaming - Employment, University, Courtship and Matrimony.

Then finally, the horsemen got me - all four of them, and it was twenty years before I discovered that Traveller had a thriving online community and had undergone several metamorphoses in the intervening decades.

I'm currently involved in two PBP/PBEM games, one of which has been running since 2005.

Two weeks but we're about to take a big change in direction, rules-wise and setting-wise. I very much doubt what we will be playing could still be called Traveller despite being inspired by it.

OK, its not right now, but 1990-2002 was my "no-Traveller" period. I had my wife (now ex) and a couple of friends (married couple, then & now) roll up CT characters in 1996, but we never got to play.

too long

Last attempt, under a homebrew CT/T4 blend, was about 1999, and before that probably in the early 1980s. Ouch.

Having said that I've had all sorts of development ideas and projects on the go over the past 20 years - and hope to get a proper game in at Continuum

I plead the usual mitigating circumstances of life - wife, work and offspring!

Currently I am part of an ongoing Traveller campaign (modified GURPS 3e set in the GURPS Traveller timeline - I know, the heresy! ;) ), we will play again after two of our players returned from their holiday trip by the end of August. Last session was about two weeks ago and we finally made it back to what I'd euphemistically call civilisation in the Islands Cluster (setting of the Trillion Credit Squadron).
