How do you calculate burst fire

I'm wondering what is the best way to calculate burst fire attacks and damage.
Would you roll (for a 10 round burst) a D20 ten time and then damage for how ever many time it hits or roll just once to hit and once for damage x10.

Thanks for your help
Steve

There's a burst fire modifier in the combat rules iirc. Depending on the level of fire you can apply either a bonus to the to hit or damage, your choice. I think. It's been a while since I cracked the T20 book.

You are correct. I do not have my book handy but basically there is chart that gives the progession bonus when using burst fire. You can choose between a + to hit or a + to damage.

This chart is not linear, it incorpoartes the law of diminishing returns. For example, firing a 10 rnd bust from your gausse rifle will not do 10X more deadly. I think you get +3D12. Unless you are wearing the best of armor that is not hardly a scratch.

The burst fire effects chart has +3dice of damage or +3 attack bonus on a 10 round burst.

Does that mean a LMG that has a 1D12 (x2) damage could not do 10D12 on a 10 round burst but does 1D12 +3 extra dice or 4D12 damage.

Correct, the LMG example would be (based on your numbers):

Base damage of 1D12 (x2) for normal fire.

So a 10 round burst gives you a choice:

A) +3 to hit and 1D12 (x2)

B) 4D12 (x2) of damage
