How common is Battle Dress?

If you want an adventure or campaign with battle dress, then design one. Most referees, as has been previously mentioned, do not allow Battle Dress because of balance issues.

I've killed a few PC's and many NPC's using MT. Gauss Rifles do low pen to pre-TL14 BD, so do present a lethal threat. RPG's and RG's can crack the can, too.

PGMP and FGMP kill PC's in one hit most of the time; even a low-pen is 6 dice to attributes and an instant down...

My players haven't come close to the stuff- if your actions invite enemies with BD or require BD to perform, they are likely dealing with bigger problems then normal.

Well, Gr may be low pen to those BD if using pinpoint option only...

TL 13 laser rifles, though, at medium range, can achieve it without pinpoint, and high pen if pinpoint is used against a TL 14+ BD, and high penetration without pinpoint at up to medium range against TL13 BD.

'Do it my self' is all well and good unless i actually want to play with the fun toy that is powered armor of ANY sort. but i've accepted i wont get to...i just wanted to gripe while i had the chance.

The Gauss Rifle on full auto in CT is frighteningly reliable against Battledress.

IIRC the adventure in CT/Spinward Marches Campaign has as its central theme the acquisition of some stolen Battle Dress by the players.

It is ironic that one of the players in my PbP game HAS a suit of battledress ... his is sitting in a crate in a warehouse waiting for him to come and get it. He finally pulled the FGMP 13 off the air raft so it could be mounted on the armor. [shrug]


Battledress is a hard thing to incorporate in a game and maintain either challenge, balance or survivability.

Sort of like dueling Spinal mounts in starship combat.

I remember a game playing hunt hide and seek with a squad of Impie Marines in a cave complex (there were rumours of an ancient era ship being discovered). Took them out with RAM grenades.
