Help! Identify a world from a UWP?

OK, here's the problem... many many years ago, I wrote a small Alien supplement for my own groups' use; the group dispersed, but I recently found the material I wrote, and am dusting it off. problem is that the world in question doesn't appear to actually exist on any of the canon material I have (and I have a veritable shedload of Traveller and associated material here, all of it on paper, of course). I am therefore, probably diue to the magnitude of the problem I've landed myself, due to a lack of digital searching methods, :toast:

First off, I can't find any reference to "Ghaoughw" as a sector or even subsector.
I can't match the UWP to any listed worlds (and I've even searched all the databases online that I could find, from the Traveller map onwards)
All the worlds with A class starports in the Aslan sphere of influence and territories appear to be either already aligned, or don't meet the UWP.

In short, I'm 100% stumped, and it's so damn long ago that I began to write this up (close to 20 years back - 1991, to be accurate!) that I can't remember where exactly I put the blasted world, or how I found the UWP! :nonono:

So, here's the specs, can anyone suggest a canon UWP non-aligned world to the spinward areas of the Aslan Heirate?

What I apparently came up with was listed in the notes as:
0307 Ghaoughw A976689-C M Ag Cp 340HH Klv

Are you sure you got the information from a printed source? That you didn't just make it up yourself?

First off, I can't find any reference to "Ghaoughw" as a sector or even subsector.

Ghaoughw would be the name of the world, surely? You're assuming that the subsector would be named after its capital, but that's not necessarily the case.

Was it an Aslan-governed world? The government code suggests a non-Aslan government, but ISTR that prior to AM1, Aslan worlds was given the same codes as any other worlds (the special Aslan government codes not having been invented yet). Maybe your information came from an early ource that has ince been changed. (Hmm...What Aslan code would '8' correspond to?)

'0307' is the place in the subsector grid, so that would narrow the search down to 16 worlds in each sector.

Alignment codes are usually two letters long, so 'Klv' is unusual. Are you sure you didn't make it up yourself?

Here are some deductions about the world that may or may not come as a surpise to you .

It's the capital of its pocket empire. 3 million people is low for a capital, so either it's the compromise capital between two or more almost equally powerful member worlds, or it's a pocket empire with a very low overall population, in which case it would need a "Big Brother" to keep those sanctimonious thieving Aslans from grabbing it. Three million people can't afford to maintain much of a navy.

If you don't find the place soon, my advice would be to select a new place to dump your world and amend your notes to fit the new location. Some place in Beyond or Vanguard Reaches, perhaps, or the sectors just rimwards of those two.

no, that's not the world name, hence the problem; it's not any identifiable system, sector or subsector name either.

I'm normally very good at making sure of things and doing my research, but in this case, I suspect you may be right; I performed a search on grid 0307 in every subsector in the spinward areas of the Aslan heirate and beyond that I could find; I then moved trailwards, corewards and even rimwards. It's taken over a week thus far, and still a complete blank.

I'm not at all sure that any source material I might have consulted at the time has changed since then - I tend to try to keep to canon GDW or GDW-approved sources for things like UWPs etc; makes life easier in the long run.

I have NO idea what Klv was or is. I know I will have found it in something, but I'm burgered (lamb burger with mint no less, and grilled for ten minutes, lol) if I can remember where.

On balance, I guess you must be right - loks like I FUBAR'd it for once and just made up the blasted UWP - MOST unlike my normal practice. That's damned annoying, but I suppose these things happen.

Looks like I have to find a new world in which to put my creations on *shrug*

Current candidate looks to be Tehaina (2533 Yahehwe) A969641-B Ni Ri 900 Na F9V M3D, however this is problematic, as it generates a very flippin' cold Ice World when using Heaven & Earth.

The search continues.

Ideal candidate systems will be spinward of the borders of the Aslan Heirate, and possess UWPs as follows:
Port: A
Size: 7-9
Atmosphere: 5 or 6 (ideally 6)
Hydrosphere: anywhere between 4 and 8
Population: Anywhere from 6-8
Government: 3,4,8, or 9 (ideally 4)
Law level: 1 through 7 (ideally 1 through 4)
Tech level: B or better.
