Found my old Galactic Empires CCG and was looking through all the cards I had.
Then this strange and interesting thought happened.
What if you had scouts (or explorers) going into uncharted territory. Or better yet you have ordinary travellers (as if any of them are normal get thrown off course by 20 parsecs or so.
Then you could create the unknown by having piles of the Galactic Empires (GE) cards for the possible finds.
In GE you have Terrian cards, Obstacles cards, Hazard cards, Monster cards, Luck, Ship, bases, Equipment, Ability cards and others.
You sort though and pick 30 to 40 cards of each type (Terrian, obstacles, hazards, monsters, luck, ship & bases). Then when your players head into the closest solar system to hopefully find fuel and such you can draw cards from the appropriate stack
You would need a chart to determine how many terrians, encounters & etc you would draw from each stack (if any: monsters, hazards, ships/bases).
This would be great if I was any good at running a PBM game
Or if I had a regular group that did not mind playing on the fly.
I kind of look at this as a great way to play Traveller and stay ahead of those players who know all the rules, encounter tables and stats by heart.
OK, see what happens when you leave me up on this soap box for too long. Attitude sickness
