Greetings Travellers...

Hi folks,

Newbie on the forum, getting back into Traveller after a *very* long absence... (All my books are black and well-thumbed!) Nice to see a Traveller community that looks very active.

It's probably twenty years since I last played Traveller. A few years ago I got rid of 90% of my accumulation of role-playing stuff and the only entire system I kept was CT. I've been getting the urge to run a campaign again for quite a while now and have, as a result, been doing a lot of writing, research and general head-scratching. The first session is tonight...!

Before I start asking questions (of which I have many) I'm going to have a rummage through the existing topics to see if any have already been touched upon, but expect foolish questions soon!

Yes, guilty as charged, although only just! 1968 to be precise. (I am reliably informed at the grand old age of 1 year old I sat and watched the first moon landing... alas I don't remember a bit of it!)

Traveller was the second RPG I got into, following the traditional entry method of D&D at school. The others in the group I gamed with were more fantasy-oriented than I so it wasn't initially popular so it lay dormant until another group a few years later where I ran a series of adventures (more than a solid campaign) for a while.

Now, older and perhaps a little wiser I'm starting up again for a group of gaming mates who are surprisingly excited at the prospect! Tonight will be the initial "getting the characters together" session, leading into their first steps into the brave new universe. They're already taking bets on who will be the first to die...!

Are you coming down to Salute (at the Excel centre) in April? If so, BITS will be there, running Traveller.

I joined this ragtag group about a year ago, under similar circumstances (20+ years out etc). There is some VERY interesting changes that have happened to our little Imperium in the last 20ish years if you are interested in the Official Traveller Universe (OTU). From your Profile, I see that you are more of a homegrown guy, which is great too.

We would LOVE to have you post some of your home-grown rules here!
