Good rules for generating the whole star system

Traveller has SO many different rule systems and books for generating the rest of a star system (and not just the main world).

So any advice on which books are better than average?

I use the one in GT: First In with some bells and whistles from World Builder's Manual added. Before FI I just used WBH.

I believe that they all fall into one of two schools: "Book 6", and "WBH". First In might be its own creation, but that probably means it has more up-to-date equations also used in WBH, plus extra detail.

Your needs dictate your likely choices.

For astrophysicists, no in-print edition will do.
For those who love detail, First In is probably the way to go.
For those who want something simpler or a modernized Book-6 version, Traveller5 will do.
For those who just need anything, then a half-page home-brewed system will work.

I like WBH to a degree, though not so much the social items.

Rob also fails to note that he has an app on his page that performs some base calculations for temperature and environment. Also, T5 has some of the necessary tools and maths, especially for dealing with variations in density and so on.

I forgot about that... but Downport is currently undergoing maintenance*, so it's down for the time being.

But remember, my page doesn't help generating the entire solar system. T5 does, and is a bit more abbreviated than FI or WBH.

* It appears to be changing management, which means it'll be back up.

As for system/planet physical data, I've always loved the system in 2300AD (classic, not MgT). Among other things, is one of the few I know not using the Titus-Bode law for orbits. the main problem being its complexity and being quite time-consuming.

As for social data, though, it's too setting dependent to be used in most Traveller games (men are just reaching stars, and most colonies are under 150 years old, and most settled worlds are national colonies).
