Getting Back Into It

If you have a registered copy of zip, you can split the archive, and hunter or I will combine the resultant threads... which means having to download both parts, then extract, but doesn't require much technical knowledge...

Well, that could get it to the site, but would we need to split and reassemble it to download it from the site? If so, me and my ilk are gonna need some VERY specific instructions on how to do that.

BTW, the zipfile limit is on the zipfile, not the source file. Sooo... zip it up, and tell us how big it is.

Icos: I'll write the instructions if need be.

Well, Icosahedron, that's why I really didn't want to go that way. I sent it from my work address :p to Hunter this morning - hopefully he can get it posted and I can get a post up on that thread with some directions. (BTW, the .zip file contains a word doc with the general instructions.) (And, Aramis - the zipped file is over 10MB.)

And, hopefully you know how to use Excel....

OK - CRAP! My email server stripped off the attachment before it left for Hunter's inbox! Aaaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will have to try again Monday. Y'all have a joyous Easter!

OK - Sent to Hunter again - this time it appears to have gone through.

Calling Hunter! Can you please post the file under "Spreadsheets"?

One way to create the strangeness is to have starports be completely integral to the worlds, designed, organised and run by the locals. Everyone is radically different. Think of Echo Base on Hoth (Empire Strikes Back).A frozen glacier, with hangers dug deep into cliffs. What's that, a Type D?

Make them run by entrepreneurs (Richard Branson), by companies, by governments, by local military (Edwards Air Force Base). What would TL 4 steam tech starport look like? Moving starships around on huge railways powered by steam engines ...

There is high tech for reair facilities, but it is in the workshops and surrounded by local tech and local culture. Make your starport reflect your culture, and make it an advert for your world.

No need to have cookie-cutter starports. I put a lot of variety in mine. Heck, I've run campaigns that have gone moths real time (weekly games) where the players never left the starport.

Just remember a couple of things.

Starports are probably built by local contractors.
Lowest bidder.

And how much damage did those moths do to the PC's clothing & equipment?

And were any of them giant radioactive killer moths? That battled dinosaurs with plasma-breath?

;)
