Future supplements

My understanding is that as part of the original T5 kickstarter we should see a players book, two sets of deckplans, and something called Gallaxiad.

Greg Lee had a kickstarter for a campaign book based around a travelling circus in the Spinward Marches. Cirque should be delivering soon.

I think that's it so far.

HMS Herald of the Marches.

I am while generating characters for Greg's T5 Cirque Campaign book, I have been working on an ATU and the first of (right now three) ACS Supplements, HMS Herald of the Marches. In fact, if all goes well I should be looking at a properly edited version later this week.

As to when it comes out, that is still in process. Life is acting like a mean GM right now, so things are running behind. I am shooting for late this year for the Herald.

So, there is the beginnings of more T5 stuff coming out, fear not.

Way to go generating some characters for the Cirque campaign Magnus. I had a few I was going to send, then with the delays, felt it best not to risk lengthening the already blown time.

One thing it's shown me is that it's best to have a product ready before undertaking a Kickstarter. Having said that, just look at that 'Fat Cat Fartrader' Kickstarter. Thankfully I didn't back that one as I still havn't seen anything emerge from what was supposed to be a done deal. (That's another T5 addition if it ever becomes a reality, I believe it's available in some form from Drive Thru RPG though).

Looking forward to the Cirque campaign. :)

Well, I want book 2 to be The Third Imperium. I want a full atlas and UWPS. I want all the major races and many iconic minor races like Vegans and Dolphins and I want stats for all the iconic ships and vehicles.

I would settle for a book with table top wargame and campaign rules though as long as the races and vehicles all got official stats in it.

Additionally, I would like a detailed explanation of exactly how the newly envisioned system of Nobility works in the Imperium, since apparently it has changed in some way from the prior vision in Traveller Canon to date.

Dolphins and Bears.

Well, I can't promise Vegans, but I can say that uplifted dolphins and bears will be making their appearance in the aforementioned T5 Cirque Campaign book. I know, the esteemed Mr. Morgan worked the stats, aging and such for them and I ran them through CharGen. So, see more stuff folks want on the way.

As for the rest, that might be nice, but I can't say if you will get it.

And SpaceResearcher, you are welcome.

Setting Material. For setting materials, I suggest that existing products and licensees are the most likely source. This is only reasonable since FFE is a small shop and Marc seems to be focused on other material so far.

Said "existing setting material" includes various campaign or background books: for example, the sector books by Mongoose, the Sword Worlds book from Steve Jackson Games, the background content of the old classic Traveller Alien Modules, or MegaTraveller's Imperial Encyclopedia.

I'm not expecting FFE to put a "T5 Seal of Approval" on existing material, but would it help if such a beast existed?

There is one exception to the above, including the T5 Seal of Approval:

Travellermap.com. An Atlas of the Imperium is do-able, but long before anything like that reaches print, the data will already be available on Travellermap.com. For free. And downloadable.

New Stuff. Beyond that, there are some forthcoming things, mostly already mentioned, but gathered here with a couple of others.

  • Greg Lee's Cirque.
  • The Mongoose Traveller "Fat Cat" trader supplement has T5 stats for it.
  • Craig's Herald book, with very nice, classic deckplans.
  • After the errata is in the master text, then the player's handbook can be organized.
  • Deckplans: two are promised from the kickstarter.
  • The Galaxiad, an adventure/campaign.
  • Battle-Class Ships, dealing with capital ships and combat, and a Fleet Combat System.

I believe you are mistaken, unless there's been some update. There is the older Mongoose Fat Cat product on DriveThruRPG, and there is the T5 Kickstarter version, which has not been delivered yet.

I only mention it because (again, unless the original has been updated), no one should be going over and buying the old version expecting to find T5 data in it.

Does anybody have some insight into a T5 supplements program; titles and ballpark release dates?
Strictly IMHO, but I don't think that release dates would be worth the paper they were written on. Publishers who regularly publish books have trouble estimating release dates. FFE has many virtues, but the ability to predict release dates is not among them.

I get the impression that some people are assuming that setting material will be forthcoming, even if it's little more than a regurgitation of what is already available, in part because that is what has happened with just about every other edition. And although 90% of those buying T5 will be existing Traveller players, there will be some newbies. So something that manages expectations and directs people in the right direction could be helpful.

But I also have a recollection that during the beta but before the kickstarter, there was mention about T5 coming out with the Julian Wars as a setting. I remember thinking, I don't really know anything about that setting. Something new. That's cool. Whatever happened to that?

For me there has to be only one way T5 should go:-

1 - a 'Lite Version' as an abridged Boxed Set with everything needed to play the game along the lines of the CT Black Box. Something perhaps like Pathfinder Lite which has been very popular, but more detailed. It should incorporate setting material based around the Imperium, Spinward Marches maps and info, premade ships and plans, premade classic weapons, premade characters and chargen for popular classes, and probably a set of dice as well!

2 - a newly revised and corrected Version 2 (made freely available of course to all Kickstarter bidders) of the 'massive book' that will act as a reference book only for 'expert referee use' incorporating a thorough reference index (of course).

3 - a series of superb, short, simple, exciting, well illustrated, booklet adventures.

This is the only way I could see something very good being salvaged from the 'T5 mess' that Marc has got himself into. Anything less than the above would be a travesty, would compound the initial mistakes made, and turn T5 into a complete shambles.

I don't see a new physical book being made available free of charge to the Kickstarter donors. Simply too expensive. I do think that a revised edition of the pdf is possible and would be well received by many referees (myself included).

I dont see it happening either but it should happen. I just wonder if, had the Kickstarter said that the book would be unedited and released with no index, whether Marc would have met his target or got anywhere near it. I am not trying to be nasty or anything but I find the whole T5 Kickstarter thing to be absolutely atrocious.

I know some people on here consider Marc to be some kind of god, and I can sort of relate to that because obviously he made the original great CT and people respect that - I mean I love that game as well. But as far as T5 alone is concerned he has acted rather negligently and I am flaming glad I didnt get involved, because I nearly did but came to my senses. As far as I am concerned the least he could do is release a revised copy of the book to everyone.

But no of course I dont see it happening, and I dont see T5 going down a route I would want to be involved with, he has his money, enough to live on comfortably for a good while I would imagine. I wonder if he really cares that much that he has probably reprehensibly damaged the whole future Traveller franchise by acting the way he has. I would like to think he is prepared to do everything he can to recompsense all the people affected, but no I dont think it will happen.
