History:
Force Commander Taran Ap Lake was a hard driving dedicated Marine officer. He expected a lot from his Marines and more from himself. Taran is extremely self-critical and several senior officers have tried unsuccessfully to get him to relax in social situations.
The only place Taran feel free to let his emotions run wild is in combat. Those who have served with him tell amazing stories of Ap Lake being all over the battlefield, blasting away at the enemy, with no regard for his own safety, and his frenzied orders thickly accented (but clear interspersed with Gaelic Scottish curses) from a highly skilled officer.
There have been several notable incidents where Force Cmdr. Ap Lake demonstrated his skills with sword and pistol.
1st Term
Leftentant Taran Ap Lake assigned to 6th Platoon, 8th Company, 9,009th Line Regiment
Boarding Action/Raid vs Pirates/Sword World Confederation/Garrison.
Often the Duty of Canary Squad fell to his Platoon. Not only did he survived, but thrived as did his missions. Some attributed it to luck, but his Marines followed him into fire and darkness, and even unto death.
2nd Term
Captain Taran Ap Lake was assigned to 8th Company, 9,009th Line Regiment.

Force Commander Taran Ap Lake assigned to 8th Company, 6,011th Guard Regiment, Adjutant to Colonel Petra Kimdottir (Regimental Commander).
Guard Duty/Counter-Insurgency vs Ine Givar/Training
Taran's tour as Marine Guard detail left him with a sour opinion of the Nobility, Bureaucracy, and various factions vying for power.
Retired Force Commander [ 0-4]
Taran resigned his commission in the Marines in disillusionment after 16yrs of distinguished service. Now a civilian he is having a hard time shaking off his old habits. His hair is cut short and his face is always clean shaven. His cloths are clean and neatly pressed and if that is not enough his bearing is that of a Marine.
What has softened is his sense of loyalty to authority, but he still maintains a intense loyalty to the Marines and the Emperor.
Taran has the classic Solomani look of the Scott's from ancient Terra with Dark hair and fair complexion. He's short for a Marine at 5'8" with an average build of a 150lbs and walks with the effortless grace of a Master swordsman as well a an experienced battledress pilot
Taran's 1st job out of the military was as a Body Guard to a Bounty Hunter. Later as a Security Commander for a visiting V.I.P.
