Fifth Frontier War - Cyberboard

I used the tiling ablity in Cyberboard to fill the cells whether hexes or squares

I created my tiles of the different types of systems in Fireworks (Photoshop would do) and then copied and pasted them into Cyberboard. Later you paint them into the cells(hexes). I used the Cyberboard text object for system names and starports.

So ya I basically redrew the map by hand. I couldn't believe how many stars were in this sector!

update

finished the starting ground forces

There sure are a lot of counters to this game. Of course I am referencing Impulse's Japanese version plus Randall Morrie's Imperium Gamebox.

Had to add a counter for the Far Trader Empress Marava in the Arden System :)

Enoff,

Nice maps but the Entropic Cluster is part of the Sword World Confederation prior to the war, not the Darrian Confederation as your map shows.

Thanks Whip I will make the correction. :)

Actually I was very unsure of this because several maps show different controllers but don't say what year.

Thanks

Enoff,

You're maps and other graphics are so good that I just glad I can help in some small way. Anyway, the cluster's recent history goes like this:

Prior to the Fifth Frontier War, the Sword Worlds controlled Winston, Entrope, and Anselhome while the Darrians controlled Torment.

When the war began, the Sword Worlds deployed four fleets, two defensively and two offensively. The Narsil Fleet kept an eye on the Darrians and the Sacnoth Fleet patrolled the Confederation's rimward border. The Gram Fleet attacked towards Lanth and the Joyeuse Fleet attacked towards Vilis.

Neither offensive went well. The Joyeuse Fleet made little headway in the Vilis subsector against the Imperial 23rd Fleet and soon found itself just holding the old border. While the Gram Fleet did briefly occupy Lanth, the newly formed 100th Imperial Fleet forced it off Lanth by 096-1109 and back across the border by 211-1109.

The second half of 1109 is when the beat down occurred.

The 214th Imperial Fleet out of Glisten deployed to the front, engaged the Sacnoth Fleet, and took the Metal Worlds in a campaign that began on 285-1109 and lasted just 60 days. After a brief operational lull for resupply and reorganization, the 214th caught and destroyed the Sacnoth Fleet off Sting.

During the same period, the 213th Imperial Fleet out of Lunion engaged the Gram Fleet, forced it back on Gram, and occupied the trailing half of the Confederation.

When 1110 began, the Narsil Fleet was still pinned down watching the Darrians, the Joyuese Fleet was busy holding the border against the 23rd, the Gram Fleet had been thrown back onto Gram, and the Sacnoth Fleet no longer existed. This is when the Darrians finally chose to attack.

The campaign is said to have begun "early in 1110" and the Darrians were able to quickly seize Winston, Entrope, and Anselhome from what defenders the Joyuese Fleet could spare. The armistice was arranged on 120-1110 before the Sword Worlds could even respond to the attack.

Hope this helps.

Bill

Dentus? is it spelled wrong on some maps?

I started to create system blocks of every system in the Spinward Marches just like the systems in sub-sectors on the Fifth Frontier Map. Got a little bogged down but I will get motivated again don't worry.

It is easy to do a quick hack of Impulse's Japanese version and add the English scanned map. I'll try to make this available.

Here is Impulses' Japanese Fifth Frontier gamebox to which I have added a copy of the original map in English and the Imperium and Zhodani Fleet charts.

Its about a 6mb download

Question, are you designing this for PbEM? Or do you intend to create an on-web application allowing players to play the game?

Just curious as being able to play on-web sould be very interesting to me >:)

Marc

Cyberboard can be used to PBEM, but I haven't personally played against someone.

I am just having fun exploring the game.

Well,

Once you get it to that point, if you are looking to play, let me know.
I'd seriously have to dust off my memory of the rules but I'd enjoy a good game
