I thought I was being lenient by saying "the first half of March," since the actual announcement read (and still reads) March 8. But here it is, the end of March, with no books.
I sent in my payment to my favorite online game dealer (the closest thing I have to a FLGS) right before March 8th to ensure fastest shipping, so I have a couple of other games awaiting shipment at the same time he gets the newest FFE books (that's OK - I always order in bulk to save on shipping, so I wouldn't have ordered the games except to ship with the two new FFE books, anyway). But, I must observe that the March 8 ship date was announced on or about February 13 (when I first posted). That's less than a month beforehand. I happen to work at a print/copy shop, so I know all too well what can go wrong. But there's no way that we'd promise a client a product by the 8th of a month and fail to deliver it by the end of that month. If our print shop were capable of turning out the quality of product that FFE 001-005 represent, I'd be hawking our wares to the estimable Mr. Miller, but we aren't, so I don't. But, I might humbly suggest, with no offense intended, that he might look for another printer that can meet ship dates (or at least come close). I know the grief that our customers give us if we're only a *few days* late: a three week delay would certainly see them taking their business elsewhere.
Now, I'm a big fan of the reprints, and I don't want anyone to get the idea that I wish them harm. It's my affinity for them, in fact, that makes waiting so hard. We saw a delay from the initially announced date of December, but then to see an early March date announced in mid-February, then see it come and go... I don't blame FFE/Marc Miller - I don't care about blame at all. I just want to see those great books!
