Far Frontiers Gateway sector

The New Styx colony, has gotten its first colonists. A dozen bemused members of the New Styx colony, who were rushed here from Gateway, have landed and formally run up the flag on this newest of the Gateway colonies in this subsector. Captain Larsson has been named system Naval commander and his ship will remain in system for the time being.

The JT Kirk has arrived in system, and upon entering orbit began its standard survey protocols, as well as landing a team of scientists both at the New Styx location, and in Acheron City where they spent three days filling out the proper forms as required by the Acheron government.

Apparently the crew of the Kirk were unused to actually writing things down on actual paper, having to then trek to a different office get an official stamp (red of course)on said paper, and then return to the first office for yet another official stamp confirming the original stamp. One crew member was heard to complain that they were being run around in circles by stupidly officious bureaucracy for no good reason, and why were they using paper instead of digital copies like civilized people!

But finally the last piece of (real) paper was stamped, the proper signatures were affixed and a seal (real wax) along with some red (real) tape on the papers, to the complete satisfaction of the Acheron colony officials, so that the crew of the Kirk with their splendidly official documents in hand were finally able to start work surveying and investigating the Alien site.

After a semi-protracted negotiation with the colony officials (which one crew member described as the “whole bloody colony”) they were allowed to set up Nemidia Tower, and were further allowed one complete company of Marines and security troops. The Nemida Tower has been designated as the location for all off world, non Acheron groups as their residence.

As has become common, the female members of the Kirk’s crew queued up to get their time in “the pod” as it has been called, each one emerging perfectly groomed and made up, to their evident delight. One of the daring male crew members entered the pod, and emerged, again scrupulously clean, and this time with shocking electric pink hair to the evident delight and hilarity of his male crew members.

It appears that the leader and his closest allies in the Red Phoenix have gone into hiding. Sources inside of the police and other gangs are telling us that the Red Phoenix have crossed the line with the leadership of the Black Dragon, and so in an unprecedented meeting, they have “torn the cloth” on the Red Phoenix.

Over two dozen police raids on suspected gang hideouts have resulted in the arrest of no less than 43 members of the Red Phoenix and other gangs. The police have told us that the Chief Executive has directed that this open, blatant, and, brutal gang fighting which has spilled over into areas not normally subject to such has caused the government to harshly crack down on these “lawless hooligans”.

Senator Pham was seen on the floor of the Congress speaking out that such lawlessness as shown by the Red Phoenix cannot be allowed to tarnish the image of Xanadu across the sector, and she is filing a bill to crack down on open gang warfare. Senator Pham has stated that the Red Phoenix and its leaders have brought disgrace and dishonor to Xanadu, and wants them severely punished.

The Gateway Beanstalk Company has announced that one of their rails suffered a minor malfunction, stranding two cars on the rail, in zero g. The passengers are safe, but are suffering from minor cases of space sickness. However the children on board the cars thought this was the best present they could have gotten, and are seen on the video having the times of their lives bouncing around the car like gazelles.

The malfunction was caused by a meteor strike which damaged the superconducting cable causing it to short and safety features caused that rail to shut down. Emergency crews arrived quickly and were able to repair the power cable in just a few hours, allowing the cars to resume their travels to the surface.
