A private chartered company Xanadu Colonies, Inc has been formed with the intent of developing interest in the colonization of two worlds in the New Caledonia Subsector: Loch Lomond, a dense atmosphere, 1.1g world, and Skye, a thin atmosphere, Terran Steppe world with 61% water. The interest in these two worlds is due to their location on the New Silk Road route.
Xanadu Scouting and Terraforming has accepted the contract to perform the long term biological and ecological survey of these worlds in exchange for the usual 10% royalty fee for each world. Crews from the company will be landing on both worlds by the middle of the next year. Each planet with have multiple crews working in multiple locations so as to get a better idea of the biome of each planet.
Xanadu is the largest population world in the sector at 485 million people, and is looking to re-settle a percentage of its population away from Xanadu. Right now the colonization initiative is being set up with the intent of attracting at least 50,000 colonists per planet. If the biome survey works out well, then with an initial placement of 50,000 per world they will be able to jump start the infrastructure of each world very rapidly.
The increase in interest in colonization has been spurred by Gateway's aggressive colonial push in the Outlands subsector, which has naturally drawn the interest of the other high population worlds in the sector. But few worlds have had the full biological survey completed which has become a requirement for insurance purposes and financing of potential colonial ventures.
Too many of the originally settled worlds in the sector did not have a completed work up done before the colonists started to arrive. Since the collapse of the gateway to the Terran sector, things are done more circumspectly since there is no desire for dangerous flora and fauna to be transported to worlds which have no defense against them. An example is the Marduk Flu which has been a scourge across the sector for over 100 years.

Three members of an alleged GeneCo Recovery team were ambushed in the street in Innsmouth early this morning. As the three were getting ready to enter a decrepit building, gunfire rang out, and all three were eliminated, dropping in the street. As their killers fled in three older model air cars, a playing card with the Ace of Spades was dropped on the chest of one of the deceased.
The card was the Ace of Spades, and had the inscription: Welcome to the afterlife, courtesy of the Heirs of D68G. The Police who responded have been unable to identify a motive at this time, and have officially declared it as a matter of "Illegal dumping". In a rather dramatic orbital insertion, a Deployable Wombat Burger stand was seen coming down in a rather impressive fashion as it dropped along with a complete dropship compliment of employees. The Constitutional Police units have narrowly missed arresting Louis Napoleon Bonaparte II after they had gotten a tip as to his location. Bonaparte and his group of the Free French are wanted on suspicion of “Anti-Government actions”, assisting the Constitutional Police were units from the New Drakkensburg Suppression units, which used their normal heavy handed tactics which sent over 200 people to various hospitals with injuries ranging from severe to life threatening. However Louis Bonaparte has managed to escape arrest once again, aided by members of the OAS. Several squads of the police were ambushed, suffering heavy casualties.
Student barricades have shown up around the Sorbonne on New Paris, along with additional graffiti which call for the President to step down and face charges for the violation of the Rights of Man. Suppression units were used on these students, and we at GNS regret to say that over a dozen were killed and 70+ were sent to prison hospitals.
Madam D’Argent was seen leaving her husbands office, and we are told that she called for even more repressive measures since she was snubbed at an official function by Madame de la Pompadour, the Vice President’s wife. She is reported to have demanded that the President force Pierre de la Pompadour to step down, so the next person to hold the office “will know their place and know their betters”.
More units of the Army have decided to remain in their barracks rather than allow themselves to be used to suppress the public. Those units which have remained loyal have been given orders to disarm the “mutinous scum” and turn their officers over to Army courts for prosecution for mutiny. The 1st Legion Parachute Regiment (1er REP) is reported to have fired upon units sent to disarm them. The commanding general of the Legion is alleged to have been arrested.
The President has issued orders for the fleet to bombard the cantonment areas of the units which are refusing to obey orders. The new political officers on the fleet are ordering the navy to use kinetic strikes on rebel units if they do not surrender. The fleet is requesting confirmation of the orders from the Naval Staff, which has asked the the strikes be placed on hold for now, citing the nearness of civilian habitations. The OAS has issued a statement via the nets that any such actions would result in the criminals being removed, along with their families. This threat is seen as credible by many of the political officers.
President D’Argent has sent off a request to New Drakkensburg for additional Suppression units, since the 500 already on planet are stretched to the breaking point dealing with rioting, striking workers, and student protests. The Gateway Embassy’s extra-territorial rights were violated as Suppression units and Constitutional police chased wanted fugitives onto the embassy property, and engaged in gunfire with the Gateway Marines, leaving parts of the embassy compound on fire. Marines managed to drive off the New Parisian forces with the Ambassador filing an extremely strong protest with the Foreign Ministry over this violation of diplomatic protocol.

We have more information on the New Parisian ships which defected to Friedland. The leader of the revolt was Admiral Robert Louis Pasteur who was apparently due to be purged by the President before the incident. We are being told that for the most part the ships disposed of their political officers, but in the case of the battle cruiser Loire the political officer is the one who led the revolt, removing all the senior officers, with the ship coming in under the command of a junior lieutenant commander.
The battleship New Paris came in damaged after several firefights occurred as the Admiral ordered the revolt. We have been told that so far the Free French Fleet as it is being called has one battleship, the battle cruiser Loire, the heavy cruisers Suffren, and Poictiers, 4 other cruisers, 9 destroyers, and the rest are frigates and support ships.
In a shocking move, we have been told that Louis Bonaparte II and Marie Louise DeGaulle were on board the New Paris, and has formed the New Paris government in exile. Over 30 supporters, former legislators, and others. We are being told by the new government’s spokesmen that the Friedland force’s arrival allowed for plan Contra-Vert to go into action. A cargo carrier brought up the escaped people disguised as food supplies.
We asked the Friedland government spokesman what the position of the Kaiser and Reichstag is, and were told that they recognize President in Exile Louis Bonaparte as the rightful leader of New Paris. They are calling President Vert D’Argent as an illegitimate president. We are told also that the Imperial Navy is gathering its strength, and awaiting the arrival of allied squadrons before taking any action.
The Kaiser has said that he hopes that the people of New Paris will remove Vert D’Argent by themselves, but if the Allies have to come in and do it, they will certainly remove him. When asked about time lines, the Kaiser rather scornfully said: “Do you think that I am stupid enough to tell the Media anything of that sort? What do you take me for? We will take action when it is the right time, and not before.”
But he did have a stern warning for New Drakkensburg, stating: “We know they are behind so much of the problems in this sector, and if they want to keep their little slave empire intact, we strongly recommend that they not be involved at all. A STRONG suggestion, one best not ignored. We know that GeneCo and New Drakkensburg love to create chaos and meddle in peoples affairs, but do you really want to do that at this time, and suffer the consequences?”

It appears that at the location of each explosion, several deliveries were made with portable sauna systems, espresso machines, and other such "comfort items", all of which were cunningly set up to explode as a binary explosive was mixed. At this time the New Parisian government is not releasing the number of casualties, which we are being told off the record, could be extensive.
Rumors are that the arch criminals Biddle and Me Too have somehow gotten on planet and are assisting the resistance on New Paris. A group of officers belonging to the 516th Suppression Company were gunned down by a gunman/gunwoman riding on a grav cycle as they were eating at a local bistro in the Montmarte neighborhood. The assassin used an ACSMG and took out the three who were just sitting down for their lattes and meal. They discovered this after an arrest in the Middle Jura region of a cell of OAS members. We are being briefed that the explosion at the cantonments are the result of this criminal bands work. Also we are being told by our source who is speaking on condition of anonymity that the so called "Atrocity" Mercenary company, which is a commando/black ops unit was somehow smuggled onto New Paris along with other black operations specialists and quite the cache of weapons.
The Minister of Security has asked that all citizens of New Paris be on the lookout for these "dastardly criminals" and is offering a 100,000 New Parisian Franc reward for any information which leads to their arrest or termination. The arrests of suspected Free New Paris and OAS members has increased, but some observers are unsure if the arrested people are actually terrorists or just not sufficiently supportive of the D'Argent regime.
In other news from New Paris, we are being told that a convoy of the 515th Suppression company was ambushed with surface to air missiles which managed to shoot down two grav carriers, and damage two others. The launch tubes were left at the site, and show to be Xin Zhongguo make. As the units of the 5th Infantry, and 15th light armored arrived, they fell afoul of several booby traps which while causing no fatalities, did damage several vehicles, and injure a dozen soldiers.
In his apartment in the city of New Lyons, the local representative for the Black Sun group, was killed when his shower exploded. The blast was contained within the walls of the apartment, but arriving forensic teams tell GNS off the record that it appears to be the work of a very experienced bomb maker, since it was a trinary explosive of a very unusual composition. Biddle is the suspect in this one as well since vid surveillance shows two "plumbers" getting access to the apartment several hours before the blast due to a malfunction in the Scrub A Dub 9000 unit which had been recently installed.
President D'Argent is facing calls to step down, which he has issued the following response: Un homme comme moi ne se rend jamais à la foule, je dirige le Nouveau Paris. (A man like me never surrenders to a mob, I rule New Paris.) We are being told that Madam D'Argent has also been seen in the Presidential Office advising her husband on repressive measures to take against "the Terrorist Scum plaguing New Paris"

The Council President of the ruling Oligarchy of New Drakkensburg has released a statement in light of the Kaiser's comments on Friedland:
"As is known New Drakkensburg stands four square for freedom to choose, freedom to think, and freedom of commerce. The slanderous words by the Kaiser have caused anger and revulsion here on our beloved planet. We are not a slave holding world, that is a base calumny, and nothing could be further from the truth.
While we might have those, who could possibly, but only by a deranged mind be considered less than full citizens of New Drakkensburg, we assure everyone that the less socially privileged of our worlds inhabitants are well fed, happy, productive, and living the life that their creator intended for them. To flat out accuse New Drakkensburg of being a slave holding world is a base lie and completely mischaracterize our peculiar institution, and our way of life.
As for the Kasier's absurd accusations that we somehow are behind various incidents which have occurred across the sector, well we have addressed those tiresome lies many times in the past, and I do not intend to rehash our response to those scurrilous claims which have been put forth by mentally defective, genetic defects who are speaking from a position of complete ignorance and we will mokusatsu them.
The tiresome commenting on the completely misunderstood so called "invasion" of Hades Station is being used once more by those who are for reasons known only to them, beating this dead equine, purely for selfish, anti-democratic, and, dare we say it, a position of supreme ignorance that we do not need to address any longer.
We want to assure all the members of the sector, that New Drakkensburg only has your best interests at heart, we stand in the forefront of those who prize freedom, yes freedom, unlike other worlds who are seemingly determined to keep their people in the darkness of ignorance. As we have continually assured those who live in our lovely sector, we are only there to help and uplift those who need our help, and we do not interfere where we are not wanted, if those benighted worlds prefer to wallow in the trough with the near pigs, then we have to let them, since we will not go where we are not wanted.

As for the Kasier's absurd accusations that we somehow are behind various incidents which have occurred across the sector, well we have addressed those tiresome lies many times in the past, and I do not intend to rehash our response to those scurrilous claims which have been put forth by mentally defective, genetic defects who are speaking from a position of complete ignorance and we will mokusatsu them.
The tiresome commenting on the completely misunderstood so called "invasion" of Hades Station is being used once more by those who are for reasons known only to them, beating this dead equine, purely for selfish, anti-democratic, and, dare we say it, a position of supreme ignorance that we do not need to address any longer.
We want to assure all the members of the sector, that New Drakkensburg only has your best interests at heart, we stand in the forefront of those who prize freedom, yes freedom, unlike other worlds who are seemingly determined to keep their people in the darkness of ignorance. Well, two of the larger mercenary units have informed the government of Coffeeville that they had accepted contracts with an undisclosed employer and would be departing Coffeeville within 30 days. As always their dependents and training units would remain behind on Coffeeville.
The 1st Frei Jaeger Regiment and Alexander's Grav Cavalry Regiment have accepted contracts, but most unusually the contracts do not specify who is hiring the units, nor the location of the contract. But both contracts are 20% above normal rates for each unit, and has a 100% equipment replacement clause which is unusual, and so these contracts are very lucrative for both units.
Both have sent out requests for additional transports above and beyond their own transport which indicates that they might be adding other troops or supplies and ammunition for an extended campaign. We, at GNS, have been told that there are representatives from both New Paris, and the Free French/OAS on planet right now.
Both units have recently accepted new equipment from New Judean Military Industries, replacing their older grav tanks and grav carriers with the latest models, as well as new armor and weapon systems from New Texas Arms. Both units have recently added a battle dress equipped company to their TO&Es. But most telling, is that neither unit has the capability of orbital insertion for those companies.
Rumors are that the New Caledonian Highlanders mercenary battalion has been approached by unidentified representatives for a contract with the same terms as the other two units. If true, whoever is hiring, is looking at some serious firepower, since all three units have both ground and orbital units.
