The giants you've posted are weaker than the Ogre I've made earlier; you should probably give them strength and endurance in the 20's or 30's (use the high pseudo-hex UPP stats given in LBB8). They should also give a +DM to hit because they're big targets, and do double (or even triple!) damage when they hit you.

Also, aren't Gnolls already covered in Traveller as Vargr?

I always thought that "F" was the maximum attribute allowed by the rules... Change it if you'd like.

Gnolls are yet another cast-off of Ancient Bio Engineering ([C] and [tm])!

Some more fantasy and low-tech stuff for the list:

SNAKEMAN (Yuan-Ti), TWO-LEGGED: 696a91 Sword-1 Bow-1 Admin-1 Leader OR Craft-1; Chain OR Jack, Bow or Crossbow, 20 Arrows, 5d6 gold

SNAKEMAN, HALF-SNAKE: A99661 Sword OR Axe OR Spear-2 Sword OR Axe OR Spear-1 Bow-1 Craft-1 Brawl-1; Chain OR Jack, Hand Weapon, Bow or Crossbow, 20 Arrows, 3d6 gold

SNAKEMAN, MONSTROSITY: C9C551 [May not have arms; roll 5+ on 1d6] Brawl-3 Sword OR Axe OR Spear OR Cudgel-1 (if has hands); Chain OR Jack, Hand Weapon (if has hands) 2d6 gold

Scalemail, TL1, Cr 125. A suit of semi-flexible armor made of many small overlapping plates. Treat as Mesh+1 against melee or thrown weapons and as Jack against ranged weapons. Weighs 3500 grams and counts against the Encumberance limit.

Elven Scale, TL1, Cr 1200. Treat as Mesh and does not count against the Encumberance limit.

Elven Plate, TL 2, Cr 5000. Treat as Cloth-1 against melee and thrown weapons, Mesh-1 against primitive weapons and Jack-1 against modern firearms. Weighs 5000 grams and counts against the Encumberance limit. Very rare and even less common outside of Elven nobility.

And eventually I'll put up my own take on bows, spears and shields, and dig up an old thread of mine to put in some extra psi powers.

That's very interesting.

Do you by any chance convert the ability scores this way?
D20
Score: 7 + Mod = Traveller Score
0-1: 8 - 5 = 3
2-3: 8 - 4 = 4
4-5: 8 - 3 = 5
6-7: 8 - 2 = 6
8-9: 8 - 1 = 7
10-11: 8 + 0 = 8
12-13: 8 + 1 = 9
14-15: 8 + 2 = A
16-17: 8 + 3 = B
18-19: 8 + 4 = C
20-21: 8 + 5 = D
22-23: 8 + 6 = E
24-25: 8 + 7 = F
26-27: 8 + 8 = G
28-29: 8 + 9 = H
30-31: 8 + 10 = J
32-33: 8 + 11 = K
34-35: 8 + 12 = L
36-37: 8 + 13 = M
38-39: 8 + 14 = N
40-41: 8 + 15 = P

Sure more stereotyping. The Gieco cave-men are right, you homo sapien sapiens think you invented intelligence. Well who says that T-rex is dumb? We were smart enough to survive far longer than Man (in any form) has been walking the Earth. So EXCUSE US if we couldn’t survive an asteroid impact that wiped out 90% of all life. Let’s see how well you do when the next one hits.

That's IT! GET THEM T-REXES! THEY'VE BEEN EATING US HUMANS FOR TOO LONG!!! GRAAAAH!

Oh, and I have an updated but disorganized version containing all of this; Employee should have it too but I don't know if he's been able to put it all into the PDF or not.

I'll put it into a PDF once I'll get home (I'm visiting my girlfriend in her college and the computers there lack the DOC-to-PDF program I use).

Have fun and take your time first.

Don't forget the Rust Monster, AKA Metal Eater:

Eater 100 kg Claws, metal-dissolving saliva A: Always if metal present, 8 if not S: 7 F: 6 unless metal (likely needs fixing)

The Rust Monster is a rather rare but very dangerous animal that tends to ignore people who don't have metal objects, but will attack without provocation when it scents metal. This ferocity is due to its diet, which seems to be metal, especially those which are vulnerable to oxidation* such as iron, copper and their alloys.

*:Oxidation is the technical term for rust, right?

So you don't think Wisdom coverts to Education?

I've revised the table, this makes a D20 18 equal to a Traveller 12 or C.

D20
Score: 8 + Mod = Traveller Score
0-1: 8 - 5 = 3
2-3: 8 - 4 = 4
4-5: 8 - 3 = 5
6-7: 8 - 2 = 6
8-9: 8 - 1 = 7
10-11: 8 + 0 = 8
12-13: 8 + 1 = 9
14-15: 8 + 2 = A
16-17: 8 + 3 = B
18-19: 8 + 4 = C
20-21: 8 + 5 = D
22-23: 8 + 6 = E
24-25: 8 + 7 = F
26-27: 8 + 8 = G
28-29: 8 + 9 = H
30-31: 8 + 10 = J
32-33: 8 + 11 = K
34-35: 8 + 12 = L
36-37: 8 + 13 = M
38-39: 8 + 14 = N
40-41: 8 + 15 = P
42-43: 8 + 16 = Q
44-45: 8 + 17 = R
46-47: 8 + 18 = S
48-49: 8 + 19 = T
50-51: 8 + 20 = U
52-53: 8 + 21 = V
54-55: 8 + 22 = W
56-57: 8 + 23 = X
58-59: 8 + 24 = Y

Tyrannosaurus

So we have H9D4A8 for Tyrannosaurus.

I can't help it if the Monster Manual gave T-Rex a wisdom of 15, I assume this reflects the T-Rex's ability to notice things. and its will power

I think an intelligence of 4 is pretty dim on the Traveller scale of things.

Basically I take the number 8 and add the D20 ability modifier to it to obtain the Traveller score.

Since the normal human range in Traveller is from 2 to 12 and in D20 its from 3 to 18. I guess Traveller can obtain some real weaklings with scores of 1 and 2.

I suppose a really bad role in character generation can leave him "dumber than a dinosaur!"

And I guess T-Rexes look down their noses at people whose social class is lower than their own. In other words they refuse to eat them, calling them "peasant food" instead.

Is Traveller really 2 to 12 or is it 1 to 15 (modified by class and experience)?

A more accurate conversion might be a simple

Traveller score = D20 score x 15/18

Just my 2 cents.

</font>[/QUOTE]I don't think that a T-Rex has any human-level intelligence or education at all: it's an animal, pure and simple, and likely not smarter than a bird!

Let me try once again
D20
Score: = Traveller Score
0-1: = 1
2: = 2
3: = 3
4-5: = 4
6: = 5
7: = 6
8-9: = 7
10: = 8
11: = 9
12-13: = A
13: = B
14: = C
15-16: = D
17: = E
18: = F
19-20: = G
21: = H
22: = J
23-24: = K
25: = L
26: = M
27-28: = N
29: = P
30: = Q
31-32: = R
33: = S
34: = T
35-36: = U
37: = V
38: = W
39-40: = X

Tyrannosaurus
D20 St Tra St
Str 28 Str N
Dex 12 Dex A
Con 21 End H
Int 02 Int 2
Wis 15 Edu D
Cha 10 Soc 8

So we have this T-Rex: NAH2D8
A rather scholarly dinosaur, I must admit, he's probably purple and sings songs to children as well.

Probably you'd have Intelligence pulling double duty as wisdom: NAH228, unfortunately this causes the dinosaur to lose its ability to notice you. There is no wisdom in Traveller, no natural talents that animals may have. For instance a Hawk has superb eyesight and can see a tiny little critter on the ground while flying high in the air. Now if a Traveller animal had Hawk like vision, or keen hearing, or a bloodhound sense of smell, how would you represent this in classic Traveller? In D20, part of it would be through its wisdom score as you would have skills such as Spot, and Listen which are wisdom based. Could you simply add the skills Spot and Listen to Traveller?

You just want to find a velociraptor holding a wrench.

Possible, though at this point quite unlikely. Fossilisation is rare, quite extraordinarily rare, but where refined metal and deliberate construction are involved that should push the chances up significantly.

Of course a wood, skins and clay level civilisation would be extremely hard to see from this point.

T-Rex on the other hand, as a pack hunting alpha predator fills the niche of savanah lions. You have communication, teamwork and spare time, a good leg up to intelligence and technology.
