Emergency: PleezeHELP!! Major Races in T5?

HELP !!

Just got my copy of the T5 core RB a few weeks ago- dang, it's a BIIIG BOOK

Now, normally, that'd make me feel:  happy as a Scout at a 1-man ship but it's a bit overwhelming, compared to previous editions.

I haven't read through in complete detail, but I've read up to and including the character generation methods.

I know this has probably already been asked, but how do I create the six major races? there are rules for Robt, AI, and Clone characters, and pictures as well as the page facing the Sophont Creation System shows pictures of the Six Major Races, and I therefore assume one must have a "Sophont Creation Profile Card" in hand for the MR one wishes to create a character for- yes?

Well, do I have to go through the entire Creation process myself, using previous data (from Original Traveller, GT, T20, and Mongoose) to the best of my ability and create my own Sophont Card (which I"d rather not do) or is there already one for each of the Six somewhere and am I missing it?

Please help!! Isn't there an "official" version of this somewhere? How do I create "alien" (OTU non-human "alien", I mean of course) bad guys?

Seems like the "Ultimate Edition" would have this as a minimum. But that's okay- not criticizing - otherwise I think this must be the best damn version I've ever seen. It may even be better than most other RPG's I've seen. But I need some help- I don't have time to read the ENTIRE book right now- and we have a scheduled Character Creation day tomorrow, so anyone who can help, please hurry!! Please, Be my Knight In Shining Battle Dress!!!

I've been collecting (and re-editing) multiple sophont cards but they are at home and I'm at work at the moment ... so here are some done by robject.

And if you want to make your own but are struggling with the sophont maker then here's a handy video.

Hope that helps.

More Questions....

That's what I thought. I still haven't finished reading the book yet- it's HUGE. I'm only up to the task resolution system. We were going to start playing next week, but I guess it'll have to wait.

What base material are you using to make them? Original Traveller stats, Mongoose or Mega Traveller stats? Or something else?

I have most of the Mongoose Traveller stuff, and of course all the OT stuff. But I can't figure out how they help- in Mongoose, there's a different system for creating say Aslan than in OT in the Alien Module. In the OT Alien module, Aslan have the same Characteristic Profile as humans. In the Mongoose one, they have a different C6- I can't recall what it's called off the top of my head.

Anyway, will they be in the Player's Guide? Does anyone know? I need some Bad Guys fast. I guess Zhodani would have the same stats except C6 would be figured differently- we are playing the first strikes of 5th frontier war. Thinking about rerunning Twilight's Peak, and I updated the Kinunir scenarios already for Mongoose Traveller- since Stats are the same and there aren't any aliens in it, I can run that in the meanwhile (it's great when you have players who've never played Traveller before, ain't it!!! All the secrets are secret again!! Plus I've got afew up my own sleeve that wouldn't fit in the OTU but are nice for a custom campaign. In MTU, most of the knowledge about the ancients is a classified government secret, to be slowly uncovered again by new players. Kickass, yeah? The only problem is I've no idea if there'll be more T5 stuff forthcoming. I'm hoping so, but some people can't figure out how to play it and they are being real loud across the 'net. It's already scared a couple of players away.

Well, in the old days, the game was the simplest one out there. It was only after MT that it got complex. But all Traveller players like science in their SF, I think, and a lot of modern groups just can't handle that. I don't make my players do fourier transforms, but I DO expect them to know what an Oort Cloud is, and at least be interested in looking up what a Roche limit is. This may be why I have trouble finding players, but that's the game. I'd rather have 1 or 2 players that were smart than water down the game and have 10 or 12 that argue with me about whether or not they can reprogram an alien ship remotely w/o a willingly open comms channel from the other ship (no, you can NOT. That seems common sense to me. What's wrong with young people these days?). They think a cell phone is equivalent to a portable communicator. I haven't the heart to tell them there are towers every few square miles that amplify their signal.

Anyway, I guess I'll just limp along w/o the stats until you get them finished. I would certainly like to see them and your rationale when you do if that's okay. ;)
