I call Avatar "Dances with Aliens"...
I understand your thoughts but I will still, from now forward, call it "Dancing with Smurfs"
I almost fell off the couch laughing when I read that comment
To me, when Avatar was released, it was obvious the movie was a tour de-force of animation and special effects while only re-writing "Dances With Wolves" and changing the ending. And, I pushed that point of view to people who only then stopped and said, "Oh! You're right. It is the same story."
It was the same as Star wars Episode 7
The names and locations were changed but the actions and and environments matched almost one for one with the original Star Wars.
It's called flashy toys and effects and crap writing, and results in Z-grade movies.
And Prometheus?
This thread is the first and only time I have seen "anyone" suggest that movie had any value other than a "Don't Do This" educational film.
It was far too much and far too garbage, IMO, for a "how this planet got seeded with DNA" sequence
