General Do you use Ancients sites and other ruins like D&D Dungeons?

Prometheus is one of the worst movies ever released. It should have been sent back to the writers pen with a severe cut in their coke ration until they returned something resembling a plot!
I seriously have to disagree. I saw Prometheus 3 times in the theater. The story for Prometheus was taken from the original draft of ALIEN. Part of it also got used in the movie Lifeforce. The acting in Prometheus sucked, but that has more to do with the actors than the story.

I call Prometheus the Candice Bergen story. Candice Bergen is an actress and the daughter of Edgar Bergen. Edgar Bergen was a ventrillooquist who had a puppet named Chalie McCarthy.

So that was the lens through which I saw Prometheus. Wayland created David8 and treated 'him' better than his own daughter, Vickers, who he treated like an employee.

So, I was very entertained by Prometheus. And it was a very Lovecraftian movie. I even wrote some fan fiction for it.

David8 agrees with you.

I call Avatar "Dances with Aliens"...
I understand what Dances with Wolves is all about, but it didn't stick with me.

Dances with Aliens.... I mean Avatar & Avatar II, stuck to me. As long as I don't analyze them too much. Looking forward to the next 3.

I understand your thoughts but I will still, from now forward, call it "Dancing with Smurfs"
I almost fell off the couch laughing when I read that comment

To me, when Avatar was released, it was obvious the movie was a tour de-force of animation and special effects while only re-writing "Dances With Wolves" and changing the ending. And, I pushed that point of view to people who only then stopped and said, "Oh! You're right. It is the same story."

It was the same as Star wars Episode 7
The names and locations were changed but the actions and and environments matched almost one for one with the original Star Wars.

It's called flashy toys and effects and crap writing, and results in Z-grade movies.

And Prometheus?
This thread is the first and only time I have seen "anyone" suggest that movie had any value other than a "Don't Do This" educational film.
It was far too much and far too garbage, IMO, for a "how this planet got seeded with DNA" sequence

SouthPark - Dances with Smurfs - Part 10

In "Dances with Smurfs," Cartman takes over the school announcements and uses his platform to launch a smear campaign against Wendy. His antics escalate into a hilarious parody of political propaganda and James Cameron’s Avatar, with Cartman casting himself as a hero of epic proportions.

Watch as South Park delivers sharp satire on media manipulation and ego-driven politics.
