Disintegrators in T20

Was wondering if anyone had an idea on how to convert TL16+ disintegrator weaponry to T20?

The initial idea I had was to borrow the concept from D&D and assign each weapon a saving throw. Make the save and take 5d6 (scaled to target) damage. Fail the save.............ZZZZZT.

Nuclear Dampers would act as an equipment bonus to the save.

I'd just give disintegrators a damage (as laser, probably) and have them ignore armor.

I give a disintegrator the same damage and critical as a meson gun. It is stopped by armour, but it reduces the armour factor by one for each die of damage blocked.
Nuclear damoers act as armour reduction.
