•On this date, Duke Larentt of Titanstorm presided over the creation of the Marcus Aaron Erechs Chair in JumpSpace Dynamics in the Department of Astrophysics of the University of Khimudire. The ceremony, which took place in the Shashka Hall on the Highport Campus of the University, is another symbol of the Archduke's personal interest in supporting efforts to investigate the so-called "Deadspace Phenomenon". Not surprisingly, Professor Sir Attila Naamatii, Professor Emeritus in the Department and one of the Sector's leading authorities on the nature of jumpspace, was appointed to the chair.
•Said Titanstorm, “That Archduke Erechs personally funded the creation of this Chair - out of his own personal estate rather than his Imperial office - is a clear indication of the importance His Imperial Grace places upon this challenge. That he furthermore garnered the support of many of the Domain's major shipping lines to establish a series of graduate fellowships, each named for the sponsoring line, underlines the significance of the phenomenon to the lifeblood of the Domain."
•Some attending the ceremony speculated that the reason for the Archduke's avoidance of lending the support of his Imperial office to the Chair was the ongoing dismissal of the Deadspace Phenomenon among some of the most powerful and influental academics in the Third Imperium. Duke Larentt refused to comment on that speculation.
