CT Supplement 2 - Animal Encounters (CT errata)

One of the items that came up in the errata discussion for CT is that the Animal rules changed pretty significantly between the 1977 and 1981 editions, and Supplement 2 is based on the 1977 edition.

Has anyone thought about changes required to make Supplement 2 compatible with the 1981/TTB/Starter editions of Classic Traveller?

For those of us with only one edition, could you possibly explain what the changes are so that we can understand what changes need to be made?


I, for one, had no idea that there HAD BEEN changes, nor that Supp 2 was based on the earlier version.

The 1977 edition has a different Terrain Types chart, The Animal Attributes chart had a row for a die result of 13 and no Swamp column, the Animal Size and Weaponry chart was very different, and the Animal Characteristics table worked differently.

The specifics of the differences are in the "CT Lost Rules" document. I should see about Marc posting that on the FFE website, or giving me permission to post it myself. Some of the material in that document has since been moved to the CT Errata doc, but not how things worked in 1977.

That seems like there does need to be a re-work of the critters in Supp 2.

Hope you get permission to post the details of both versions, as we can do a lot of the work for you guys (in collaboration with each other, of course).
