Converting races to T5...

I was wondering if there is any ongoing project to convert the original Traveller races (Zhodani, Vargr, Aslan, etc.) to T5. I am interesting in doing this for the Darrians.

I am not even done reading the book yet. I might start converting things once I am done.

Yes. I've drafted sophont cards for the Aslan, Droyne, and Vargr, another fellow has drafted a card for the Hivers, and Marc drafted a very early card for the K'kree. I've also ported the Shriekers, a very minor race in District 268.

I have attached the drafts to this email for feedback.

Draft status means there will be changes made to all of them before they are finalized.

I did one of the more obscure ones: the Zerp from Theta Borealis sector (CT product by Group One). But instead of a sofont card I made a 'how to' video on YouTube. So if your campaign is set in that part of the universe, that's one down.

I thought Aslan tails were not prehensile?

They're not. 'T' is just "Tail". 'M' is prehensile. Did I read that right?

Aslan Errata #1 - increase Aslan size

Vargr Errata #1 - decrease Vargr size

I haven't tried porting a race yet, but I did work through making an extinct race on an example world to see how it would work out. Gotta say, the species lifespan tables on pg 511 actually came in really useful for outlining this extinct race's background and giving me some ideas on where they got to leaving archeological ruins and such on my example system.

How exactly did you "port" it? I have the Aliens Races Books from Classic Traveller. Did you use those as a base?

I am waiting on that till I hear what FFE is going to do or I need it. I do have to one minor race for my setting.

Ah, I will have to fix that then. The profile code itself shows a 'T'. Obviously I need to read the actual text on the card.

How exactly did you "port" it? I have the Aliens Races Books from Classic Traveller. Did you use those as a base?

Right. I used CT and did my best to guesstimate the details. Some things I had to modify, such as the characteristics, and some data is just missing or partial in CT. I had to fill things in, but tried to do it reasonably. That means There's More Than One Way To Do It.
