I read and enjoyed some of GDW's late novellas for Dark Conspiracy and Traveller:New Era. A graphic novel would be great but I suspect that the traveller franchise would have to be in a more lively state than it is currently before anyone would invest the man-years it takes to do a decent graphic novel.
I don't know, start off small, with advertizing in the main rule book. I think it would sell better than mugs and even look at the success at T-shirts. Secret would be to try to find out what prompts comic/graphic novel enthuasists to buy a SF based comic.

That could well be me, I don’t know about slick but there’s some early attempts on my website (see my sig).
Myself and a couple of other CotI guys (the excellent Baron Saarthuran & Far Trader) have done a lot of good work on an epic length Traveller webcomic which I think could have great promise but has stalled a bit at the moment (as these things invariably do).
I would love to start it up again so if anybody wants to get involved and help reboot the project and build on the work so far done, there is a development forum you can join here: http://travellerwebcomic.heavenforum.com/index.htm
Don't forget the old Travellers strip that used to grace the pages of White Dwarf. You can see the entire print run on the net somewhere--I know I've seen it before but don't have a link handy.
