Colonization Procedures

World Tamer's Handbook for TNE.

It operates at a somewhat high level and a spreadsheet will be helpful, but it's awfully good and it's the most detailed model we've got.

Yes, World Tamer's Handbook.

It's playable with just P&P, but a spreadsheet does make it faster. One hitch: it lacks operational volumes, so if colonizing a non-breathable world (or building stations) you'll have to fudge-factor...

Another WTH hitch:
If you're colonizing from very low numbers, say from a Free Trader shipwreck, you're all gonna die.
Of course, you might consider unavoidable death to be a realistic outcome under those circumstances. Personally, I houseruled it to make the game survivable/enjoyable.

Not complaining, BTW, WTH is, as Whipsnade said, very good and the best we have.
