Chassis Size Table vs. Sample Chassis Table

Hello all, I'm hoping that an answer to this post will help clear up my confusion...

On the Sample Chassis Type Table, many of the prices listed seem to be inflated. According to the rules and example, you should just have to add the various costs of different hulls to get the final cost of the chasis. However, using the Air/Raft as an example:

Sample Air/Raft Chassis:
Avg. Size: 4000vl/Cost: Cr8000.00

yet, if I was to "build" this sixe chassis from the main table:

1000vl chassis/Cost: Cr1000.00 x 4 = Cr4000.

It seems that all of the sample chassis are double the price of the main table...I could understand if the Sample Table includes drive train, armour, etc..., but the text clearly states that the samples are empty chassis only...am I just missing something really basic? :confused

Cheers!

This "inflated" cost is probably because most of the sample vehicles have a partially streamlined chassis...which doubles the base cost.... a fully streamlined chassis would cost triple the base cost (page 237)

IMO it would've been nice if each sample vehicle had the notes for each step on the Desgin Specs like the Patrol Cruiser on page 336.
