CharGen Flowcharts (alt)

A month ago, Ackehece posted a really neat idea for using flowcharts to describe character generation. (Original thread) But there appear to be some limitations in the tool used. So, at the risk of steeling his thunder, I tried to make some of my own with a number of cosmetic fixes and some other changes. They take a surprising large amount of work to make and I've only done three so far.

They can be found here: http://sol.trisen.com/default.asp?topic=10&page=144

(Yes, I know I have to update my website CSS.)

EUREKA! I can see!

I have downloaded these and will give them a look-see when I get a chance.

Thanks!

Just looking over the Agent, and thinking how easy it is to read and understand. Thank you, Peter.

Show one of 'em to Marc.

How did you decide?

Last I saw, there were some issues with soldiers:

DCS June 14th, 2015 07:37 PM 60a 62 Soldier Career Issues page 62 Officer Commission has C3; the page 53 Solider Checklist has Soc. page 62 Officer Commission has C3; the page 53 Solider Checklist has Soc. | page 62 Enlisted Promotion has C3; the page 53 75

How did you decide which was which?

How did you decide which was which?

For 'Soldier', I've gone back and rechecked ... looking at the T5.09 document (checklist and career page), T5 document (checklist and career page), T5 beta document (career page), and even CT Book 1. (The following are 'IMHO'.)
  • I've changed enlisted promotion to C2 plus WB mods.
  • I've clarified officer promotion.
  • I believe the commission roll based on C3 is correct
  • I think the 'continue' roll should be a 7 (not C3)

The PDF has been amended accordingly.

Very nice. It's what I tried (and failed) to do with those charts and tables. Heck, it's what Marc tried to do in 5.09 (and succeeded at least partway). I think this should be considered for the actual book, if we're not already past that stage. It's really good.

Really nice work. Have you managed to compress it all into a page to go alongside the original in the BBB?

Thanks. And no. I might be able to compress it a bit but clarity is the number one goal of this little exercise and I don't want to compromise that. I might circle back once I've finished, to see what options there are, but not right now. (Meanwhile, I've nearly finished the next one.)

Awesome! One of my next todos is to explore T5 character creation. I tried it once before and came away scratching my head.

A few more updates:
  • Added pre-career education and training
  • Added Marine and Spacer careers
  • Command College, Flight School, and AMN Schools added to Spacer, Marine, Soldier as relevant.

I'm having to make guesses to resolve inconsistencies in the text. And I'm guessing that in the military careers, the 4 operations rolls per term relate to years. Therefore, if the 1st year of the term is Command College, Flight School, or AMN School then this should be 3 operations rolls (for the remained of the term). Let me know if you disagree or see what you think might be errors.

Thanks guys.

Now "Scouts" is up. Had to make some wild ass guesses (like, is it +1 Fame or +4 Fame per discovery?). Also, not sure what to make of the "retry" roll to begin the career.
