The Year is 1010. It has been seven long and hard years since the War of Solomani Independence when the last ambers of hope died on Terra. But, the dream is not over.
Seven Years have past for a defeated nation to regroup and form a place among the Stars for Mankind - that is our new Confederation. Seven years, of rooting out traitors and rebuilding our worlds and our pride. Seven years, when the last of the Solomani governments bade a hasty retreat to regroup on Home, until humanity's real home can be retaken. Seven years of pain, suffering, and betrayal.
You are the chosen few, the best of the best, and you have been called to serve aboard one of few remaining superbattleships left in our once mighty fleet - the Galactus for a very special mission.
Your current four year mission will be explore the mysterious sectors to the Rimward where the mysterious Dark Nebula has brought a blessing or a warning.
For a fragment of a hull or similar large object composed of some unknown alloy has come hurling from that region into space we claim as our own at Near C velocities. It could have originated from outside the system but as it approached the main world and the Home Guard dispatched ships to intercept, it suddenly altered course due to no known force. The nebula has never been fully charted for entire squadrons have known to simply disappear and those sane few that do return tell of wild tales to incredible to be believed.
Not only are you charged with exploring these strange and mysterious corner of space - where it is rumored the original colonies of Terra resided but also to establish FIrst Contact and peace with the equally enigmatic, yet, fierce warrior race known as the Aslan. Not much is known about either. So, your job will also be about diplomacy, as well as showing the flag.
Seven years has meant that we have to stretch our resources for mere survival but we will not be defeated, if anything the taking of Terra by the plutocrats of the so-called Third Imperium will only strengthen our resolve. However, it will also mean that potentially you will be on your own - living off the lay of the land, if you like an old Terran analogy. You will given a cargo hold of goods of the latest Conglomerate products, you are not only to use these in the course of exploration but to establish trade contacts for the merchant fleet who will come after you. Approximately, 500tn can be allocated for this task. We don't have much as most worlds have not sided with Home but that is another matter. You are to strengthen our Rimward flank, for if we fall there...Home and the whole Confederation will die a very quick death and we be at the mercy of Imperial retribution and our people will be under Imperial tyranny once again.
Seven years of humiliation, ridicule and a culture of defeat have to now come to the end, Now. The revolution beckons you to resurrect the Solomani Cause, rebuild our homes, restore Humanity back to glory and our rightful place among the stars.
