I don't think either of those have reached the heliopause yet - they're going 'downwind', toward the magnetotail. The Voyagers would get to interstellar space first.
This just means that we successfully threw some of our toys away. It doesn't, to me, mean that "we" - humanity - are in outer space yet, when we haven't even gotten out of orbit...
An appropriate analogy Jame, yep we're still taking baby steps and this is just a small toy we tossed out of the playpen. We want to get out there ourselves but right now we are too immature, we need to grow a lot and it'll take time. I wish we were there already too. I've been dreaming it for over 30 years but we've stumbled a few times, despite which we keep trying. We'll get there I hope but I no longer believe it'll be in my lifetime so I celebrate each little step
