At the time of my writing this, it's 17 people think no changes are necessary, and 15 people think that some sort of change should be enacted.
I too think the poll is worded poorly, escpecially in the way it deceives those who want change vs. those who don't. Just glancing at the poll looks like 53% of the responders don't want change and just a small percentage do think change would help the board (when, in fact, it's close to half the responders who do, indeed, want change).
What I think is that we need a checks & balance system to keep the mods from overstepping their powers--something I've seen them do more than once to various people. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
My proposal was simple: We have a Thread dedicated to it. If you feel you've been the victim of a mod wrongly slapping a Warning or Infraction on you, then you would be able, after the mandatory waiting period (I suggested one week cool off time), to list your grievance on the thread.
The court of public opinion would keep the moderators from making "bad calls", and it would expose "bad mods", who are the repeat offenders.
The ideal would be: That the thread is never used. Like nuclear weapons, just the threat of it being there would encourage the mod to do as the mods encourage us when posting, "Think before you hit 'Send'".
I also think that Reporting posts should be public. A person should be able to face his accuser, instead of allowing him to accuse from the darkened end of the room.
Given that, I voted, "Yes" to moderate changes to the board.
