Bio-enhancement with microchips

I was talking to a tech weenie ( no offense I am a knuckle dragger) and he was telling me about research into computer chip enhanced muscles etc.... I remember an old TAS Journal article about chips used in memory storage and improved intelligence. So I open the floor to see what you think about it ... or ideas of implementation.
