In the Medical Technology section autodocs cost 1 Mcr and are 0.5 tons, in the Starship section they cost 10 Mcr and are 2 tons

That's exactly what i was thinking of.

Makes sense to me. I built my own autodoc using the computer and vehicle rules and it came out to a volume of about 900vl and a cost of 250,000 Cr.

Also I would say that the cheaper lighter auto-doc is portable, anti grav, where as the larger is built into the ship. IMHO

And the larger unit has its own back up power source (incase of main failure of FPP of ship for any reason)...
