Um, why would it have TNE ships converted to 4e? TNE is set thousands of years in GT:IW's future.

My great hope for Interstellar Wars is that they take some of Concept Art meant for Transhuman Space & put it directly into the Interstellar Wars milieu to give it as Hard SF edge for the Terran forces.

Then take some of the exotica from one of the yet unpublished world books and use that for the Vilani...I kinda always fancied them using Aztec or Indian motiffs...the boring pictures seen in Nobles does not cause my feelings to soar...so art is important (folks, almost as important the story that you are going to tell to us oldsters & for the newbies just picking it up).

Shudder. Well, I suppose that it is nice to know that SJG is consistant in making butt-ugly covers for all of the 4e books. Bletch.

William

Actually, I think the cover looks really cool. I just fear that the insides will not be as good as the outside. SJG has a very good reputation of creating great covers but keeping consistant with the insides...Behind the Claw, is the classic example.

BtC was the exception and evidently was rushed. That IW isn't being rushed is a good sign.

From this Daily Illuminator (link):
GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars will probably be a September release. It's not inconceivable that it will move up if one of the others gets delayed - the manuscript was excellent even in first draft stage. Wil Upchurch is editing it. And other stuff is coming along, but those are the ones that will happen first.

There's a Chris Thrash quote about IW that I should look up. Sums it up better than I could.

Quote: "BtC was the exception and evidently was rushed."

BtC wasn't rushed. SJG published the first draft of the manuscript, not the final draft. So... yes, it was rushed from the POV of SJG's printing of it without final checking, but the wrong version was printed, which was not the authors' fault.

You don't think that a mistake like that might be related to being rushed?

Would those in the know...know how art is decided for SJG products as sometimes, it is really good and other times it looks like an afterthought. Also how much direction are the artists given for the Traveller line, as I get the impression constantly that much of the art is generic then adapted to Traveller.

This is why I would want to see something really radical appear in IW. Or at least, use the hard stuff that seems to never got into TS.

I like the two starships fighting on the lower left side of the cover and if I were you I would go with that alone on the cover with lots of red on black writing.

The current design is too busy.

That tank thing just makes me shudder.

I emailed Steve Jackson about it we will see what happens.

Ugh. That's a very ugly, messy cover (the logo is what really sucks IMO). I agree, it's just too busy.

I would describe the insides as being a distillation of the best ideas from the GT line combined into one book.

Well, that is nice to know...what I was actually referring to was the inside art is often worse than the covers on GT products but as Jon is one of my favorite Traveller writers...he is bound not to screw it up (in terms of the written content).

Yes, it was rushed, but my point I should have made clear is that it was not the authors' fault.

June 17, 2005: Coming In October!
Steve Jackson Games announces the following releases for October, 2005:
Munchkin Bites! 2 - Pants Macabre
Munchkin is about beating up monsters, taking their stuff, and sequels. Munchkin Bites! is no different. Thus were born . . . the Pants Macabre.

The World of Dorkness has been busy in the past year. Can you face the sonic stylings of Ten Inch Tacks, the annoyance of the Gnat Bats, and the chilling waddle of the Were-Penguin? Will you wield the might of Power Piercing with the Huge Dice Pool, or will you be bludgeoned by Bad Fiction? And do you dare play the new Race . . . the Mummy?

In addition to the always awesome art from John Kovalic, we have two guest artists: Pete Abrams of Sluggy Freelance and Maritza Campos of College Roommates from Hell. The jokes can be blamed on Steve Jackson.

It's got 110 shiny new . . . no, not shiny – dark! It’s got 110 dark and evil new cards, plus two blanks to create your own. And of course, like all other Munchkin releases, this supplement is completely compatible with the original Munchkin and all its supplements and spinoffs. Of course, since Pants Macabre has powers, it will work especially well with Super Munchkin.

112 cards in a clamshell display pack. Stock #1443, ISBN 1-55634-747-2. $16.95.
