Asteriod Belts and the 100D Jump Limit

Does the 100D Jump limit apply to asteriod belt?
(I know it applies to any object within 100D of the ship but does it apply to an asteriod belt?)

Does the 100D Jump limit which can drop a ship out of Jump apply to the entire belt (cricle/orbit)?
If so, does that make as good of a Jump Barrier to interplanets that the star's 100D Jump limit (Shadow) does not cover?

Does a system of nothing but asteriods impose a Jump limit hazard to all who attempt to enter or leave such a system?

I can't imagine why not... though I'd say 100D of any sort of mass. Sidle up to a ship IMTU, jump, and you're both in for a universe of hurt. So yeah, you're in a belt and that close to a big rock, I'd say jumping was a bad idea. But individual masses, not the whole belt...

Earths asteroid belt is actually a pretty open area, with a surprising amount of space between rocks (there are no Empire Strikes back asteroid density levels in our solar system). The rocks also orbit on the elliptical plane, effectively making it a ribbon/path of rocks around the sun.

In either case, I dont see asteroids posing any barrier to jumping, as you can either vector out to the huge spaces between asteroids, or just vector up till your above the elliptical, and then make your jump.

As for other systems, it would stand to reason, that unless the system is extremely young and has not yet even formed planetesimals, the same would most likely to be true outside out solar system as well.

However.....If you decide that an asteroid belt in YTU is so densely packed that it looks like its out of Empire Strikes Back, Id say you had found a place that was being readied to make a ring world, and that would impose a jump limit at least that of a size 1 world from its edge.

Yes, but not in any way that's going to make a whit of difference.

The average asteroid is well under 500km. The average separation is well over 500,000km... you've less than 1% in the densest shoals of hitting a limit.

The average asteroid belt is an easily navigable "hazard" in N-space, too.
