Are there GAL files for First Survey?

As in the thread title, I´d love to have galactic files for First Survey M:0 data.

If nobody has done anything besides Core-Sector, how difficult is it to convert from: http://traveller.mu.org/archive/T4/first.survey.data.txt ?

If I understood correctly, I would need to write a program that converts that into the hierarchical file structure of GAL? Or is there a shortcut?

I believe that the current versions of GAL come with a utility - SEC2GAL - that converts SEC files from the Missouri Archive to the format that GAL needs. You'll have to massage the text file from your link into SEC format, but that would be likely to be doable with not much more than a programmer's text editor.

Awesome! I´ll look into that!

I´d think I only need to seperate them by sectors and put the approriate header to make them into SEC files. That sounds doable. I´ll come back here with my experiences, uh.. and hopefully can offer the GAL files for everyone.

That, and possibly replace tabs with spaces, as I'm fairly sure that SEC2GAL goes strictly by position for identifying fields. But in any case, I expect that it will be more tedious than difficult.
