Anybody in the Twin Cities?

Now we need to see if this Traveller game can be worked out.
Saturdays from 9am until 2pm would be the best time for my group. Sundays are out with Church and football and a couple of us work nights.

Steve

Before we start kicking around times and games, we should just set up a time/place to meet for coffee and drinks. It's a lot easier to kick around game ideas and such in person.

Count me in

I like to run CT, getting back into it.
I have the FFE main book (books 0-8).
I write a lot/most/all of what I need to run
an adventure/campaign,but I'm not above
borrowing or out-right plunder for ideas.
I run a bit fast & loose with the rules to
keep the action in the game.
PC gen from books 4,5,6,7 and 8.
ships are built via book 5.
Now if FFE would print the copies of
the LLB's in 8.5x11 !
and I could use a "Book 9" for advanced
"Other" generation.

I've never done CT -- being having a bunch of MT stuff -- then CT is not too bad at all ..

But yeah Kilgs is right -- we need to get together and chat and throw ideas together .. as obviously there is interest for a game.

Pre-game meet-up

I live in western wisconsin, but I do get over to the cities.

1) when?

2) where?

Books & Laptops? places w/ wi-fi?

I'd like to get a look @ MT,
and I could bring anyone up
to speed on CT.

So does anybody wanna meet once New Years is done --

since with holidays, it's gonna be impossible for folks to meet generally, but after New Years -- I figure people have time.

SJ Games has a room at Con of the North. There is going to be at least one GURPS Traveller scenario (maybe two, I'd have to check the schedule). Since I'm in charge of that room this year, I'll be there most of the weekend...

Room 208.

1. Who thinks they would be able to participate in a game?
-Doesn’t need to be a commitment at this time, just who thinks they could do it.

2. Who would like to run? Who would like to play?
-No commitments again, just a general idea.

3. What systems do people prefer?

4. Who would be willing to meet up over coffee, drinks or gyros to discuss such a game?
---------—---------------___

1. I'd like to. Will depend on timing and level of commitment. In any case, I'd appreciate being in the loop.

2. I'm a player. Not good as a dm/referee/what have you.

3. The only version I've played is CT. Could be talked into others, but not wild about systems like D&D 4e. Simple is good.

4. All of the above.

Can't get to CotN, but will watch here for updates.

Is anyone interested in running a one-off CT adventure in connection with TARGAs traditional gaming week in March?

Yikes, work and new nephews threw me there...

So, how is a location in Roseville or Golden Valley/NE Minneapolis or Eagan?

As a matter of fact, Kilgs, I was just watching a science-fiction drama on one of our many local televisor networks when I saw an advertisement for this Roseville-based gaming facility. It's like a country club for geeks!

Does cost money to join, though -- just like a country club. The cheapest I saw was just a bit over $10/month (actually $125 for a full year).

Heh. My first impression when I caught the ad was that Fantasy Flight had pulled a Borg on those jolly FLGS geeks over at The Source. Then I remembered that The Source is actually down in Falcon Heights, about a mile away.

What you may or may not know is that the membership is only if you want to play after 9pm. The place is open to the public generally from 4pm to 9pm. You can also purchase a single day pass ($5) to allow for late times and renting of private rooms. I was just checking it out tonight. Nice place.

Great Arneson's Ghost! I had no idea about the free-to-9pm allowance. That's nice... except that I can't remember the last time I ever had a Traveller session that broke up before 9pm. :D

But the $5 thing does sound like a pretty sweet deal, particularly if you're only planning on dropping in over there every once in a blue moon or so. Is it safe to assume that the day pass includes access to their terrain libraries, et al?

I've been there the past couple weekends. I think the above information is incorrect...

$5 for day pass to enjoy games/terrain/whatever. It is not free to just show up AFAIK although I haven't paid yet simply because I haven't played in any games.

Membership only after-hours.

It's really nice though. Personally, I'm likely to pick a membership for Dark Heresy and the terrain stuff.

From the website:

"The Fantasy Flight Games Event Center is open to the public every weekday between 4pm and 9pm, as well as Saturdays from 10am to 9pm and Sundays from 10am to 6pm. During this time, all are welcome to bring their favorite games for open gaming.

"From 9pm to 1am Monday through Saturday, the Fantasy Flight Event Center closes to the general public but remains open for members only."

Also:

"Also, single-use, one-day passes will be available for $5, granting extended gaming hours and private room use rights only."

So, you only have to pay the $5 to stay late or use a private room.
