Anybody in the Twin Cities?

Looking to see if anybody plays in my neck of the woods -- I know a few gamer groups are around -- just curious about Traveller

Yup. I have run a Traveller campaign in the past, probably will run another in the future. I know of one other guy running Traveller, but I don't think he posts here.

The guys in my group drive from Sauk Rapids, Zimmerman, Little Canada and I'm in Maple Lake. We have been snowed out a couple of times each year. We also game at a different house each time so everybody gets a chance to stay at home and skip the hour drive.

Another Minnesotan here. I live in the Cities but commute to Mille Lacs area for work, driving is easy once you get out of the city. If people are thinking of getting together, I could be interested. I have an every/other group that I GM for various systems but would love the chance to play Traveller.

That would be cool if folks could get together and play .. I guess it would be a matter of seeing where everybody is ...

You might want to figure which editions people loathe/love first. That might keep the first meeting from devolving into a war of high-velocity dice throwing and hissing.

I've run both Mongoose and GURPS Traveller, recently. CT long ago. I live near Isanti (directly north of the cities).

I'm all about Mongoose. Have CT but prefer the new version. Never played or own MegaTrav or don't like GURPS.

I work not too far from Isanti. Milaca, MN.

It Might, but I think it should anyway..... I mean it would be nice to be civil right out of the gate:-)

Well, it’s apparent that there are some folks near the Twin Cities who play Traveller. Maybe we should focus a bit to see if anything will come out of it.

1. Who thinks they would be able to participate in a game?
-Doesn’t need to be a commitment at this time, just who thinks they could do it.

2. Who would like to run? Who would like to play?
-No commitments again, just a general idea.

3. What systems do people prefer?

4. Who would be willing to meet up over coffee, drinks or gyros to discuss such a game?

Basically, this is the step where we move from discussion to determining probability. No commitments at this time, just a more specific set of questions.

1. I may be able to participate depending on interest, scheduling of sessions. My job has been pretty hectic and I run an every/other week fantasy game for my main group that meets on Tuesdays and some weekends.

2. Definitely play, I’m the permanent GM for my group and GM PbP games as well. I haven’t been a player in a Tabletop game for nearly a decade.

3. Mongoose. I’m not a fan of GURPS but I may be willing to look into it since most of my dislike stems from ignorance and a refusal to load up on all those damn books.

4. Sure! Depending on the time, I’d be willing to hook up with some folks even it’s just for Traveller chat.

1. With School during the days (dont ask me why I didn't go for night classes .. lol) -- I can meet during the evenings no sweat

2. Definitely play, I've got my own IMTU campaign -- but personally, I would rather play

3. MT/TNE -- am very familiar with GURPS (Fantasy/Supers kinda settings), haven't seen Mongoose yet -- so I have no idea about it.

4. Sure! Depending on the time.

GURPS Lite is free.

If you have time, you should show up at Con of the North, there are going to be several GURPS Traveller one-shots run there.

There is a total of 5 of us who are willing to play once a month. Any where would be fine and any traveller but we really don't want to invest money in books. I have some ct and T20.
Right now we are doing A game of Thrones in Zimmerman

I have everything CT, everything MT, everything TNE, everything GURPS (including multiple copies of all the GT stuff), most of T20, everything Mongoose (including some multiples).

Investing in books has already been done...

Edit: I also have everything T4, but does that count?

I'm so irritated I could explode. I lived in Milaca for 20 months all alone in a 1-bedroom apartment with nothing to do and not knowing anyone. I figured there was no chance of any gamers out here so I never even asked around ehre. I would have killed to get into a Trav group ;-) Zimmerman was like 20 minutes away and I pass it every day now that I moved back to the cities.

Ahhh, well.
