Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
In any given game, if my players bring their characters to any pub, bar, tavern, saloon, inn, hotel, motel, market, bazarr, or for that matter, any populated place, I make sure to have plenty of dice handy, along with some random mook NPCs. They also spend a lot of time in prison.

Of course it killed us all and destroyed the whole bar.
It taught us a lesson for the next characters we ran .
Never start a fight with Troops fresh from the jungle fighting rebels and in a bad mood .
I'd say. Any man who carries 25 kg of explosives armed to go off at the pull of a cord is in a seriously bad mood. Or seriously suicidal. Or seriously stupid.
Or was he carrying this major threat to his own wellbeing around because he wanted to have a way to get even just in case he'd get killed in a bar fight? Talk about being prepared for any eventuality!
Here's an IRL "incident" starter:
We are sitting at the dinner table and I am razzing my son (soon to be 11!) about something. He lowers his eyebrows, gives me a steely gaze and say, "You have some issues, don't you?" I decided against (him being my only progeny) chasing him down and giving him the trouncing he deserved for that one. If he had been a character in a bar, though....
"No one's fightin' unless they're fightin' with us!" - Imperial Marine company commander during a riot at a starport's outer section.
"Rangers! Lead the way!" - I was a leader of a Sylean Ranger company on a raid. Our mission was to cleanse and burn the enemy from their position on top of a hill.
Most of the best fights I remember happened between PC's. Just a few:
1. The PC's were breaking into a vault and no one blocked the door open; it closed and locked. After the resident thief failed several times to pick the lock, one player spied a telephone and picked up the receiver; the voice at the other end said, "hello" to which he responded, "Hey, we're stuck in the vault, can you get us out." That's when the fight started ...
2. The PC's were scouting a remote world from their airraft; one was busy collecting what appeared to him to be diamond bearing rock while the others were exploring the country side on foot; the walkers narrowly avoided an ambush by a pack of predators that chased them all the way back to the airraft; jumping in, they tried to lift off only to find the airraft overloaded with several tons of head sized rocks! And that's when that fight started ...
3. The PC's were attempting to out run a corsair to the 100 diameter limit in their Type S; they needed only a few more seconds but the corsair was already in weapons range; the engineer unilaterally decided to vent fuel, hoping the resulting cloud would disrupt the corsair sensors just enough to allow them to escape; as he was doing this remotely from the bridge, I had him roll his engineering skill; he failed and before he successfully repaired his mistake, had vented all their jump fuel. And that's when that fight started ...
