I currently run an online game via open RPG on fridays...6 PM - 11 PM EST, Mongoose Traveller Rules, homebrew setting, using Mongoose Rules in a radically different universe / Setting. It has been running a little over a month. I'd call it semi-successful.
Thing is, it has 7 players, and thus is closed, but some of the players are on 2nd and third warnings for being a no show.
Situation at current:
The group is a mixed bag crew of a far trader:
Code:
PC Age Terms
Rhys Wolcott 42 6 Terms (3 Navy/3 Merchant)
Ether Drake 22 1 Term (1 Drifter (Scavenger))
Meredith "Stray" Lamb 42 6 Terms (6 Scouts (Explorer))
CDR Anneke McClaren 42 6 Terms (6 Navy)
Eftear 38 5 Terms (2 Rogue (Thief)/3 Merchant (Free Trader))
Sean Peake 23 1.25 Terms (1.25 Navy)
Kasan Allen 30 3 Terms (1 Agent(Intel)/2 Rogue(Thief))
...working a subsector known as the Zanbar Drift:
Here's the stylized Map of the Zanbar Drift Subsector, Subsector L of the Far Reaches Sector.

So far, the crew have had a run in with a CEO of a major shipping corporation, TransStellar LLC, and their Subsidiary, TransStellar Salvage.
Due to poor social skills, the crew blew a few job opportunities:
They thought about exploring, changed their minds seeing it as largely unprofitable...
Thought about industrial espionage, changed their minds after meeting the above CEOs...
Decided on making surveys of a few X class worlds for a Naval Admiral NPC, dropped the ball on that and missed the connection...
Have recently ferried a Noble debutante to an engagement on a world doing clothing textile exports for a planetary scale fashion show, hauling freight with her father chartering the ship.
lol, guess you had to be there. That or it just sounds bad. I don't know. I'm working it as bestas I can, while teaching a half dozen or so guys how to play / What the hell is/ Traveller.
Semi-mature themes, some language issues.
So they seem to be Traders. As of today, this minute. Which might change.
Only two of the players are familiar with Traveller, I think... one of them being the Referee. The Rhys Wolcott guy is an old CT veteran.
So, if openings happen, I'll let this thread know.
Or if you got fridays evenings open, and want to do a "Guest" role or are interested in generating a PC for joining on a "standby until a slot appears" basis, there it is.
Last week, a "Guest" player played an NPC foil / Antagonist, with some prompting by me, as needed.
I expect the group will go through some turnover pretty soon...differing play styles, and such...we'll see.
Best of luck to all in finding a game that fits their needs.
