Allegiances and alliances

I am trying to find a document or summation somewhere that would list the alliances, enemies, and neutrals with regard to Allegiance Codes.

For example, we know full well that not every Vargr clan gets along with all the others.

Is there a reference somewhere that lists allegiances along with FRIENDLY, NEUTRAL, and ENEMY allegiances?

Generic Example - probably not accurate <lol>

IMDA - 3rd Imperium, Domain of Antares
Friend: IMDC, IMDG, IMDI etc.
Neutral: CsIM, GlFe
Foe: SoCf etc.

I know Leroy Guatney had done a LOT of work along that line - I still have that document around here somewhere. Wondering if there is something more recent.

I've seen fragmented versions of this kind of thing but no consistent or anywhere near complete. I've never collected them either. If you find a few reference, please let me know and I'll find a way to collect them into the wiki.

I've never seen anything official in this regard... would this be something like the 'Friends & Enemies' table that appears in the MegaTraveller errata (p. 49-50) and is from Tiffany Star #6?, or do you have something else in mind?

And any sources?

It would be along those lines, but for Allegiances instead of Margaret, Norris, etc.

Looking back over Leroy Guatney's stuff, it listed all the allegiances he could find, with sources, but still didn't get into friends and enemies.

There may not be anything put together at all. Once I get replacements for my lost CDs I may start the process. I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Got way too many T5 questions and ideas, not enough time...will keep posting stuff as I come up with it. lol

Marc and I have been discussing this very concept, which has led to defining the relationships between polities in a sector by Flux values. Marc and I discussed how this could be used to produce modifiers to the 'Actual Value' T5 trade table (similar to previous editions 'Alien Trade Effects' modifiers).

I've actually got a prototype table for the Marches in 1105, but I've yet to actually figure out how to post a table on these forums... :(

Which points out a problem with the idea. In some areas, such a table might only be accurate for a few years. Vargr space is just the easiest example.

Such a table would only go with the data and polities.

Look at the dates we have for UWPs in the Marches and Gateway domain... 993, 1065, 1105, 1117, 1202, 1248. UWP data appears to be valid for a 50 year span at best, and perhaps not perfectly centered on the date of the data. And wars between 'majors' generally force new data.

I don't consider that a problem with the idea, just a recognition that UWP data and all that goes with it are simply a marker in time.

If you want to discuss an actual problem with the notion that there are time-based relationships between polities in a sector, I'm waiting for problems or suggestions for improving on the theme.

I find the idea to be useful for referees running campaigns or events in a given sector.
